There’s Nothing Wrong With Aging Gracefully

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
I ain't going to say it's an advantage in every single way, but in a lot of ways that really matter, it's an advantage. But at the same time, and I'm 46 years old at the same time, I recognize that there's nothing wrong with embracing the fact that you are aging. We're all going to age. I know when you were young, we feel like we're going to be young forever, but we're all going to age

She talked about at one time how bad her body hurts after these shows because she's still trying to do these same moves that she was doing back in her thirty s and forty s, and now she's 65. She's an elderly woman, and she has not embraced that, and she has not accepted that she's still trying to hold on to who she was instead of embracing who she is. I've really been doing some introspection myself as it relates to my workouts

And hardcore workouts, I'm not into hardcore workouts anymore. I used to be able to do like 45 minutes kickboxing or 30 minutes, just a whole 30 minutes workout. But nowadays, and I'm in my early 40s, but nowadays it's like, okay, I'm more of a Pilates type person. I'm more into doing stretches

They've taken care of themselves in their youth, and now they're experiencing the fruit of that as they get older. And you're right, nobody wants to look older. For some women, it's harder to embrace the natural aging process, and especially for women who aren't black, because we tend to age much more slowly than our counterparts, and so they're scrambling to try to stay as young looking as possible, and we just naturally tend to look younger than our age

Of course, they ain't going as hard as the rest of us are because they are older, but they are still working out there and there are still older women in the regular classes that I'm in. So it's not even about I'm getting too old. It's just that I don't find it fun anymore. It used to be fun. I used to love hard workouts, calisthenics and body weight exercises

So when you find something that you like to do, it's not only going to be fitness, but it's going to be something that you actually enjoy. So yeah, thank you so much for responding back. Bye

And I thank you so much for this conversation because even though I'm going to be 50 and the reality of being almost 50 kicked in and I've always taken care of myself, I was one of those people that looked at other people early on. My mother always took care of herself and I kind of followed suit. But reality is reality. The age kicked in. So the hip flexor is not flexing like it used to and even mentally remembering things
