Twitter Chronicles: Multi-Millionaire tells young black man to cut his locs before business meeting

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
Yeah, he should cut his hair. I mean, he obviously saw this as a big opportunity that was more important than his hair. So he decided to cut his hair so that he could get in the same room, at the same table with this multimillionaire who has the money and resources to fund his business. And then others are saying, no, this is a deeper issue. It's more than just haircutting

In fact, some jobs require you to not even have any facial hair. As a matter of fact, let's think about sports and baseball. Some baseball teams, you can wear long hair. Other, well, I'm not sure about others, but I know the New York Yankees. You can't have long hair and you can't have facial hair. Not even a mustache. And that goes for black people, white people, latino people, asian people, it doesn't matter

And to be that age and have his hair and have it that laid out. Oh, my God. But I'm starting to admire hair on men. And it means more than just. More than just a hairstyle. I know people say you could just grow it back, but what does it also represent? And so I see why some people could be upset by that. And so I wish we didn't have to cut our hair as black people

@DearAuntyAng

I don't understand why society in general rails so much against locks and braids and kinky, coily hair, but this is who we are, and this is how God created us. So I think that we should have the same opportunities as anybody else without having to hear about how unprofessional our hair looks. So thank you so much

And I think that's what causes black people to get upset also, is because we don't hear these conversations about any other race and their hair and the way they choose to wear their hair. We don't hear this about any other race, about the texture of their hair. But when it comes to the black race, there's always a conversation about our hair texture and the styles that we choose to wear that complement our hair texture. So I totally understand where you are coming from with that

Our african hair, our means of taking care of our hair, our hair has even helped us to escape to freedom in ways in the means of braids. Sometimes the braiding of the hair was a roadmap to slaves to tell them which way to go when they were escaping to freedom. So just leave us alone. You all want to wear your hair the way you want to wear your hair. I hate it. They, the hair police
