Post-Divorce: Are They Still Our Family?

But I didn't really know what else, because that's all he's ever been to me. He's always been my uncle, even after he divorced my aunt. And before he was remarried, whenever he would see me, he would always introduce me as his niece to everybody. That didn't change. But I'm wondering, in situations where there is a divorce, do we redefine these relationships?

She's going to always be my daughter. So I think it builds on the relationship you had. There are some in laws. When I divorced him, I divorced them because I don't want to see you nor talk to you no more because of the relationship we had. So to me, the Queen, it all depends on the relationship we had

My uncle remarried my first aunt, who is the mother of my cousins. She's passed a few years ago now, but I do call her auntie because she's been in my life for, I dare say, 25 years or so. So she's auntie. Even though we don't hang out, when I do meet her, she's still auntie. So I think it's just a matter of who you like, the ones you respect

But when we were in private, he would talk about them and my sister, her sons, her two oldest sons, their dad, I still call them my brother in law because here's the thing. They were married to my sisters. Them and I had a very good relationship. We got along very well. And I used to tell my brothers, my brothers all the time, like, I feel sorry for you all. I know you all married to my sisters

But aside from that, if there is still some reasonable degree of respect amongst one another, I can go with that. Because here's my thing, Tanya. If the formal way of dressing a person, uncle So and So and Aunt So and So goes out the window along with the divorce, then then I might as well not call you that from the beginning. I might as well don't even call
