Michael Vick says he wish he had a father figure tell him not to dogfight
So I guess my thing with this is, for one, I know some people, they got so angry and just completely raged out on Michael Vick because of the crimes he committed against animals. And what he did to animals was absolutely cruel, absolutely cruel. And nobody is questioning that. But I will say a lot of us did not grow up taught to love animals. So we don't value animals sometimes the way that other people do
Because if you'll hurt an animal, that's just really creepy. That's bad. But I hope he never does that again. I hope he is through with that. And if he can help his children to not be like him, that's great. But I have no compassion for him myself. I don't have any compassion for anybody that is cruel to animals to any degree whatsoever
And it's as simple as that. A lot of people around my neighborhood, and I can tell you, didn't have dogs. If they did, they had them tied up in the back of the yard, and they never came in the house. And they were more for, I guess, security. We couldn't have a dog because that was another mouth to feed
You. Everyone loved my dad. There's nobody that ever said a bad word about him. And when he passed, it was a sad day in the around the whole area. Before me and my friends would go out and, you know, drink or whatever. After I got back in college, they wanted to go talk to my dad first. I want to have you to have some questions. Most of us were not raised most of us in the black community were not raised to love animals and to treat them like family and all of that. We were chose to treat them like animals, and that's what we did. That doesn't make what Michael Vick did okay. I mean, I didn't have to have anybody teach me about animals to know that what he did to animals was completely cruel

Like I said, I believe that people would have been upset about it, but they would have moved on. And one thing about animals, their lives are valuable of course, to the people who love them. But if I were to lose a dog, I could go get another dog. If I was to lose a loved one, I can't replace that love one
