Vivica Fox response to Taraji’s low salary claims: "Im Good"

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
And while some people will say, hey, I don't feel bad for Taraji, she out earned just about everybody that I've ever known. And so what she earns from one movie is probably what a lot of people earn in one year. What is she complaining about? Still, it doesn't matter. The thing is, she feels like she is worth more than what she is receiving. We don't know what all she goes through on a typical project

So are people considering any of that? But notice, all I'm doing is talking about money, which is what everybody is doing is talking about money. The artistic industry is so varied, and there are no clear models. It's not like public school. And even then, those models have differential variations depending on the district and where the money is coming from

And so when she said it, and I thought about it, I'm like, okay, if the IRS takes 75,000 off the top, that only leaves her with 75,000. And then let's say she has to pay all of her people 35,000. That only leaves her with $40,000. And like she said, when you do a movie, you're on the movie set for anywhere from six months to a year, sometimes more

And they was like, it's hard to be happy about this Grammy when you mean and everybody was going in the upper. How could they say that? And how could they be broke and they must have mismanaged their money. No, they want to mismanage their money. They didn't have money to manage. You know what? And so, you know, you have to have these people

The first thing Vivica should have said after saying that her money was right is saying, but there is something that we need to do about the sisters who are not making this kind of money. It's all about opening doors and trying to look out for those that come after you. You're in a position of power, and now you're saying, well, forget everybody else. You weren't always in that position. Someone helped you to get there. Don't never forget that

And maybe she know a lot of things can affect a salary and what I might see as a decent salary, someone else could say, nah, man, that's not enough money. And it could boil down to our lifestyles. It could boil down to what we personally feel we're worth. And so even though I may be satisfied with my salary, it may not be enough for someone else

And maybe she's just content in what she's doing and she's doing what she loves, and she is in a lot of lifetime movies because sometimes I'll sit and watch them, and she is in those. She's changed a lot over the years as far as her looks and how she carries herself. And she's older now, and I think that has a lot to do with it, too. She's older

But then with the Vivica fox thing, so I was not outraged with what Vivica said, and I did feel like, okay, once again, y'all are dragging everything, however. Yeah, I feel like what Vivica said was, like, her response was a little weird, and I feel like it was very tone deaf, because just because it's not your experience. Doesn't mean you have to be like, I'm good. We're not talking about you. That's crazy

Hey, sis, thank you so much for your know, sometimes I wonder if some of this, as you broke down Taraji's salary and what she nets at the end of it. I'm wondering if this is also the result of agents not really negotiating the best deals for these actresses. Because I've always heard the saying, you don't get what's right. You get what you negotiate

You never hear about her love life or any type of drama she's involved in or anything. She's just older and living the life she wants to live in this season of her life. And so I think that we can respect that. But like I said, you just never know what types of conversations happen behind the scenes. And maybe the time when media was asking her this was just bad timing. It just wasn't the right time to ask her something that would require a very thoughtful answer

Hey, sis. Thank you for your response. I didn't feel like Vivica's response was weird at all. She was signing autographs, she had cameras in her face. And that type of question is a question you want to give a thoughtful answer to. And so if you've got cameras shoved in my face, and I'm greeting fans and signing autographs, I mean, don't ask me a deep question like, what do I think about Taraji's assertions that black actresses are underpaid?

Possibly by, like you said, saying that, understanding where Taraji is coming from and acknowledging her claims, acknowledging what she said, so that Taraji can feel heard in that moment and not like she's on this island by herself saying all this and nobody else seems to, you know, I said last week when I did a swellcast about, said, you know, I'm wondering why Angela Bassett, people like Gabrielle Union, or even Halle Berry have not spoken out and said these same things
