Dating Someone With A Disability

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
But you'll be so surprised at how independent a lot of disabled people are and how they can really be a help, more than a hindrance to someone. And so this particular couple, they're married and they're actually getting ready to have their first child, and they are adorable together. But she shows how they live a wonderful, fulfilling life, even with him being confined to a wheelchair. And so it's something to think about and consider

I mean, you can't miss it, of course, if it's a wheelchair. But the thing of it is, it's really the person. And that's why I started dating my husband. Because when he said he had a disability and I knew I had a disability, I started looking at him. What kind of person is he? He was very nice to me. Not just that, but we clicked and it didn't matter. And it still doesn't matter

And I think that there is some disabled people in the world that are just so amazing that once you spend time with them, you're not going to even care about a wheelchair. You're not going to even care about that. Because, like, the guy's picture that I put on this swell, he is so handsome and charming, girl, he is so handsome and charming that, yeah, he's in a wheelchair. But like, so what?

It as an autistic person, someone with a developmental disability. Yes, I would very much be willing to date someone with a disability. However, I've never. I've never had a first date, ever. I always wanted to have a girlfriend, but I have a communication delay, so I am not great at using my words. I were advocating for myself. I am getting better advocating for myself, and I live a life of routine

It. I think that's amazing the fact that you definitely would date somebody with a disability. I mean having a disability, it just, I don't know if it just makes us nicer people. I feel like it does. I feel like when people think that everything is not perfect in their lives but that they're quote unquote normal, they don't see what we see. We really do see hearts. We really do see people. Not everybody is like that

Do not let what you cannot do intefere with what you can do. Wooden

What I'm not okay is not working on those mental issues or just regular issues that we have of insecurity or lack of confidence that is undoubtedly compounded by this situation. Ego is there and how does that manifest itself in the relationship? When you go out, there's just so much. And I learned how selfish I am as a person. Or I shouldn't say selfish or I should say he called it selfish, but I call it unaware

So with that said, ultimately, it all comes down to the mind. It all comes down to your self esteem. When you're a person with a disability, it's all about self esteem. And my self esteem when I was young was nonexistent, literally. And as I was saying, after a long time of battling with myself, because it was ultimately, it wasn't really my disability that was defining me, it was my own self esteem that was defining me

I wouldn't say we're in love, but we're there. We're good. We're good. I no longer have issues of me thinking about that stuff. It's basically past my mind already. And her, as far as her, she's concerned, it's pretty hard. Like I said, it's pretty hard for a man, I mean, for a man to understand the woman and understand where she's coming from sometimes and understand what she really wants out of life
