Can We Really Handle the Truth? Bebe Rexha

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
I know that my church family can see I've gained weight. But you don't really want to hear people say it. You don't want people asking you, have you gained weight? You don't want people making little suggestions to go work out or to come work out with them or what your eating plan is and all these different things they ask to try to gain some insight on why you seem to be packing on pounds

If you want to lose weight, that's something that you're thinking about, because he and I was talking about it and I was like, oh, gosh, I got to lose this. He was like, we got a track that's around here we can cut back on certain things. And I love how he said we. So it didn't just stop at, yes, you gained some weight. There's a certain finesse to it

And so I guess for him, he's like, well, you talk about my weight all the time, and I don't get upset. So why are you getting upset? So it may be one of those cases of you can dish it, but you can't take it. I can talk about you gaining weight, but you better not say nothing about me gaining weight. Okay. And so, yeah, with women, it's always different when it comes to weight

They don't know you. They don't care about you as a person. They're not connected to you in that way. And so they don't care about making it known that they have seen you pick up some weight. They don't have a problem with that. And as far as her boyfriend is concerned, I mean, she said that he said that she teases him when he picks up a few pounds

And so I'm like, yeah, stop it. And so I asked my youngest son both of my sons really are truth tellers, but my older one, he doesn't live with me. So I asked the young one, I was like, so what do you think about Mommy going on a weight loss journey. He was like, you don't need to lose weight, Ma. You're not fat

And it don't sound like he was like, yeah, you just overweight, you just obese and you nasty looking, and I don't want to talk to you. It don't sound like he said that. It sound like he just answered her question. Yeah, you didn't gained a few pounds, it's all good. You know what I'm saying? Why would you get upset with him?

And so that's why I have adopted the policy of if you can't handle the answer, don't ask the question, period. And honestly, that goes for any area of my life. That's not just when dealing with men. That's when dealing with women. That's when dealing with my children. That's with dealing with everybody. If I don't feel like I'm strong enough to handle the answer, then I'm not going to ask the question

So it's a little more simplistic to do that than to go around saying a man is defined as this and should do this, and a woman, she needs to do that and all that. It's so much that's going on and it's getting to be a whole bunch of convoluted mess and such like that
