Streaming App Price Hikes: YIKES!

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
But at the same time, when you add up all these rate increases for all these other applications, you're almost paying the same amount of money. Only difference is you may not get the same type of content. All of them offer something a little bit different. So it makes it seem like it's worthwhile to have these different applications because they all offer something a little bit different

Streaming app prices are on the rise! 🤯 #tv #internet #streaming #entertainment

Gotta love the strikes until the price hike 😁

If not, I'll just leave networkflix streaming all day just to give the finger to but I'm here's a little tip. And if I didn't have it spread out, if they actually cracked down so much, here's the problem. What happens when the prices of things like this go up? Pirating is going to go up. I know this. I was a part of it for many years. There is no way around it

One thing about me is I'm not a big TV person. And so before they get my money, I will read a book. I'll go to the library and watch. I'll check out a couple of free DVDs and watch those before I end up spending all this money to watch some shows. Thankfully for me, I'm not like, I have to watch this show every week. I got to see it when it comes out. I don't have those issues

But I just don't really see any reason to have any one particular platform throughout the year because I just frankly think the content is not there, with the exception of maybe HBO and Apple TV. And then you brought up Lord of the Rings, which is very timely because my wife and I just did a watch through of it. It's like her favorite movie in the world

I agree with you on everything you said. Piracy will definitely become an issue when people cannot afford to pay for these apps. Especially when folks are still jailbreaking devices like Amazon Fire Sticks and I don't even know if they do Chromecast anymore. But people have found ways to circle convince paying for a subscription in order to view content. And so yeah, people are going to continue to do that. They did that with downloading MP3 s

Some of my favorite TV shows on Hulu, I never was one that had to watch a TV show when it was prime time. I could watch a TV show the next day because usually when my TV shows are on, I'm at church, I'm working, I'm doing something, not watching TV. And so I did not need to have access to a TV show the moment it comes on. I can wait a day or two, or three even, and watch it and catch up

This is kinda crazy

So we have every single streaming service known to man, but the prices just keep increasing. And I had calculated recently the amount that I was spending on streaming services before, which was like 30, $40. And now it's like $70 a month that I'm spending on streaming services. And it's kind of questionable

So I totally understand why people stick with cable, because it is easier to operate cable than it is streaming, even though streaming is more cost effective. But now you have things like YouTube TV and Fubo and all of those that kind of mimic Philo, all those that kind of mimic cable by offering you a wide range of channels for a set price

I got rid of Funimation because it didn't make sense for me to pay for both Funimation and Roll, so and of course, there's many more apps, and then you have the prime video, and then there are some shows that are not even available unless you pay extra within prime. So you're already paying per month for prime, but you have to pay extra for certain shows within prime. So it's a complete and total game. It's a complete and total rip off

And we don't realize it sometimes how much money is going to apps because it's coming out in small chunks. 599 here, 999 there, 1199 there, 499 there. It's like all these little bites that are being taken out of our bank account for these apps. And then we're wondering, why does it seem like I have less money than I thought I had? Well, that's because they snuck in and took that 499 a month and you weren't paying attention
