Hey, swellcast family. I hope your Friday is off to an amazing start. So I wanted to come on here briefly and talk about parasocial relationships. Now, these relationships are the connections that we make with celebrities and other well known figures. Unbeknownst to them, we are invested in their life. We invest energy, time, resources into following them, keeping up with their careers, staying connected to them through various outlets. And yet these people have no idea that we even exist

And I wanted to talk about that because the fact of the matter is, while these fans are following her life and everything that she does and such, they're neglecting other parts of their own life. And to have a celebrity that you spend money on to see their shows and things like that, to tell you publicly, stop doing that, that means that you're doing too much. This is why I don't follow celebrities online or whatever

And for me, it's kind of nothing truly bad, but people don't always present online as they are in person. And not necessarily anything wrong, but just different. Like you think you know, but you don't really know. And so we have this what we think is an inside view into people's lives, and it's still fake. It's still just what they show us, and it's still not a real relationship. So

And every time they post something, it'll show up on my newsfeed. So, yeah, I think celebrities also have to take a responsibility for drawing those lines of delineation there, too, and making sure that people aren't accessing. It was probably their publicist writing back. But you made a great point about All American. And like you said, even though it's fictitious, it is real life. I mean, we remember even back long before social media ever existed, back in the 70s, john Lennon was assassinated by a crazed fan. And so we know that back then, like I said, they didn't have social media

And two, I was listening to yours and Erica's replies, back in the day there were fan clubs and now you'll still see like fan pages on Instagram, Facebook, like a Beyonce fan page. But back before social media, there were fan clubs. And from what I understand, because I was never really a part of one, people would get together, there'll be newsletters and there will be events where the actual celebrity would actually show up and meet and greet

As a celebrity or a person who's a public figure, you set the boundaries. You know, I know people who post their private lives. Everything they do is posted online

Hey, ara, thank you so much for your response. And you're right. People will go to extremes to try to mirror the lives of the celebrities that they admire. They'll get plastic surgery. They'll try to emulate their style. They'll try to live the way they live, dress the way they dress. They'll adopt the same hairstyles, the same makeup looks

You can get caught up in what's happening in celebrities lives to the point where you're scrolling all day, you're researching all day, and you're taking time away from things that you could be cultivating in your own life. You could be cultivating your own interests, you could be building your own career. You could be spending time with your family instead of trying to find out what megan thee stallion is doing today, what she's wearing on the red carpet?

And like you said, the meet and greets and the meetups and stuff where they come and sign autographs and things. Yeah, I remember that. It gives me fond memories of the shopping mall culture. Fond memories. But you made an excellent point where you were talking about the fertility journey. There's one actress, I think her name is Kelly Stewart, she's always promoting egg preservation and egg freezing and stuff
