TikTok: Gen X is the reason for Gen Z’s entitlement issues

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
As we got older, we even did our own laundry. For us, this was normal. I didn't feel like we were robbed of a childhood. Our parents were definitely not strict, so I didn't feel like we couldn't do anything else except stay home and do chores. We definitely have friends and interests outside of home, so that wasn't an issue. But I guess from that she felt like, I'm not going to make my kids do that stuff

And I'm like, yeah, you can. So definitely, just because we were in the same generation, stopped different values of what we call clean and what have you. I will say with my kids, I was raised really strict. I always felt like I was in punishment, to be honest. I always felt like I was grounded because my mother was unfortunately so fearful

It's society in general that has made life easier. So easy that, as I always mentioned, when I was growing up, there was, like, I could remember a number of telephones in my head. Even I could still remember the first telephone from telephone number when I was growing up in the projects as a kid. So the ability to memorize things nowadays has become weakened, because it's not us that made society that made things the way it is. It's technology

But for the most part, people are going to parent how they want to parent. They're going to discipline how they want to discipline. I try to get my kids a little balanced. I let them have their technology, their iPads and things, but I have them to go outside. I have them to do chores. Even if the chore is cleaning up behind yourself, because I think it teaches them responsibility. You made the mess, you clean it up
