Keith Lee and the Power of Influence

And the next thing you know, your restaurant ends up on a food blog or ends up in the newspaper with a critique. That's how food critics did it in the past. They didn't announce that they were coming. They didn't announce that they're a food critic, and they're here. I mean, they didn't do that because the food critic wanted to get a real, authentic experience. They didn't want to be treated like celebrities. They wanted a real, authentic experience

Because if I have people behind me, I make a statement. The people behind me back that statement, and they want to push you to back my statements as well. Peer pressure. That's all it is, peer pressure. Because if you're watching a creed online, did you believe somebody that looks like you, sounds like you, or has common interest or maybe all of the above? We need to really instinctly look at ourselves and honestly ask ourselves, why?

Let's say he was an influencer about cell phones or something else, bottles of wine or a new pop, a new candy bar. It's his opinion, just like it would be any other influencer's opinion about those things. So you can take it or leave it. But the reason why I take it is because he consistently does it

Now, if this was a critique that was given over a period of visits, like, I visited this place three times last week, these are my experiences. Every time I went in there, then I could understand, okay, there's a pattern going on here with this particular establishment. But you go one time, you get your family to go inside, get your food, they bring it back out to you in the car

Like I said, you're going to have more context to your review versus, okay, I ate the chicken here, and it wasn't done, or I didn't think it was fully cooked or whatever. I had a local friend, like I said in my original swell, a local friend who went to one of my favorite restaurants last week and had, according to her account, an awful experience in this restaurant with the fried catfish. My favorite dish, the fried catfish

They reach out to him because most of the people who he reviews, he showed video after video clip after video clip, after video clip of there being lines outside where people are waiting two and 3 hours to get the food. He also showed video clips where he went into one establishment and the food was really good. He got the food, his family got the food, brought the food out to him in the car because he never goes in because he doesn't want preferential treatment

Can't say anything bad about anything black. But I wanted to get a greater understanding because I'm like, okay, well, from my understanding, this guy is not like a food critic type of person. He just tries different cuisines, different dishes from different restaurants, and gives his take. And so thank you so much for providing all of that background information, because I did not know all of that about him

Like they can just wait, like they have all the time in the world that they should be treated like trash. And because somebody else is well known, because somebody else falls under a financial bracket, then what, all of a sudden that makes them qualified to be treated better because of that. That's crazy. It's really sad. And I do like the fact that he did get up
