Swell Isn’t For Everyone

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
I understand that some people just find that there are other platforms that are better suited for what they're trying to do and what their goal and purpose is. So that's just my little two cent on that. I hope you guys have a wonderful day

Sometimes you find the platform that works best for you

You. Hey, Tanya, this makes a lot of sense with all the different social platforms. Like, I've never been on Twitter. I have threads only because Instagram just kind of feeds into that, but I get very little engagement there. TikTok videos. I did, like, my first TikTok video got, like, 300 likes, and I was, like, hooked. But then after that, no. So I'm not into making videos and doing all the editing

And for the people that feel like they're leaving swell, I hope you don't. I really do. I hope that you do not leave, because. Just give it a minute and you'll see that this is a great platform to have. So thank you so much, Tanya. I appreciate that

However, I like to react to what other people post. Friends, family members, coworkers, et cetera. I have friends all over the world. I have lived in a three different continent, like I said before, and I made so many good friends that they still remain friends up to today. So I exchange with them from time to time. But I do not post. I'm a kind of low key guy. I naturally shy, they say so

And no matter the bracket you're belonging to, if you want fame or if you don't want fame, you just want to talk in both the brackets, I think your content is the king. You need to put out quality things. You cannot just ramble, just like anything on the platform. And you're also correct when you say that the platform also matters. Maybe a lot of people don't want to talk. Maybe some different kind of platform may suit their expression

I don't think if I did any other platform right now, even without responding, I'd have the sheer number of posts that I have just because when I think about YouTube, it still takes a little bit of, at least for me, it's a learning curve to understand what you used to do a video, to edit videos and all that, or what you used to record videos, to edit videos and all that

But I was happily writing because it's my passion and I feel like it's one of my strongest gifts. And so one day I wrote deja vu is a gate, my reflections on 911. And next thing I know, I have $50 in my stripe account. And then I started getting these followers, these engagements. And what's interesting is people didn't know, but I just really wanted to write and share my thoughts

Because a lot of people I've noticed, they listen and not so much reply, but they may heart something. But I know that my word is out there. And for those that are active, I really appreciate. Sorry, my mic went out, but what I was saying was that for each of you who are active, I really do appreciate each and every one of you. It's just like this. Some people like to wear mini skirts and some people don't

And I don't do them every day, but consistently weekly, I have at least like four or five days that I post on them. And I think it's very important so we can know the energies. I'm a firm believer of God, I'm Christian, but I also know about the stars and the moons and the energies and how they impact us

Don't have a lot of time to fool around, Kitha. Lot of social media. But I have made a dent into the atmosphere of all these different social medias. I have made a dent in it, which is good. It's a nice dent, and it's cool because you can type in my name on anywhere on the search engine, and I'm the only one that pulls up. So I did well since 2011 with all this crazy stuff with social media

So I agree with you. I agree with you that every social media platform is not for everybody. I'm with you. Twitter. I just can't get jiggy with Twitter. I've tried a couple of different times. I've, you know, downloaded it to my phone and I've tried to post on it, tried to get jiggy with it. I really just cannot get with Twitter. It's just really not for me. I tried to do clubhouse

I look forward to the various topics that are being discussed on here. It helps you to stretch, too, because you're not just talking about things you know, or even things that you talk about on a regular basis. You're talking about certain topics that maybe I'm not as familiar with that, but I want to get in the conversation and learn more and add my little bit to it. Whatever knowledge I do have in this area or just co sign everyone else's input

And it's getting crazy because you tend to sacrifice quality as a result. Your content doesn't have good quality because you're just trying to get paid. So you're posting whatever will drive traffic to you, but it may not even be good quality content. And so you might get people on that one post, but can you keep them coming back? Can you give them something to look forward to every time they see your name or your profile?

People get on these platforms looking to be a star, looking to be big, and it's like, okay, you take the fun out of the journey of growing when you're just focused on when you first pop on the scene, and your focus is, I need 1000 followers by the end of this month. And it's like, give yourself time to grow. If you build it, they will come. Isn't that what the saying says? If you build it, they will come

And when you love what you do and you're not on here because everybody says that if you come on this platform and you get this many followers, then you'll be getting this kind of money. No, because then you'll be miserable trying to do any and everything to be viral. And it's really not even that serious. But when it's your moment, it's your moment. And when it's your moment, you'll arrive, and that's when you'll explode

But just because they don't interact with me, I know I see people on Facebook all the time talking about they're cleaning up their friends list because you don't talk to me if you don't say hi to on this post and I'm going to delete you. I never say hi on them post. Yet I still manage to be around, right? Excuse me

Hey Quad. Thank you so much for this. I really enjoy your teaching, your teacher chronicles. I need to catch up on them, but I really enjoy you just sharing your experiences in the classroom. I think it's very valuable to those in education and those of us who are not in education, but just to hear firsthand from a teacher some of the things that you experience in the public school system, I think it's great. Yeah. I do remember referring you to Twitter spaces

And so, yeah, usually on the weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, sometimes I'll just skip the entire day. There have been weekends where I didn't post anything from Friday to Monday. It just really depends. I've got a bunch of stuff out there that people can listen to, and so I'll hop back on. When I take my time to rest or to focus on my weekend activities, I'll Coles back

They're posting the same stuff on every platform, and so therefore, they gain bigger followings on every platform because they're consistently posting the same things on every platform. Now, me, I'm not big on videos and pictures. So Instagram, I do have a decent following, but I don't be on Instagram like that. Facebook. I have a large following on Facebook, but I'm on Facebook more than I am on any of the other platforms

But they get passed around and I get new followers every day I get notifications of new followers and I literally have not posted anything since like August or something. It's been that long. But you're doing really well on there and I'm glad you're getting monetized. I just got a notification today from Facebook inviting me to be a part of their performance bonus thing for my personal page

Things like what to post next. I do not have the content to share. Writers block, creators block never come in the way. So yes, I guess instead of the best platform, the idea should be to find the best expression of oneself and then choose the right place to share it. It is evolutionary human beings to smell and understand authenticity and when we are our authentic self, then the abundance flows and people are able to resonate without much effort

Hey Himanshi, thank you so much for responding to my swell. I agree with your point about quality. When you're trying to get numbers, sometimes you end up compromising on quality content. And the quality content is what's going to keep people coming back. I think sometimes people, because they don't really have a clear niche or direction, they just start throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks

I don't know about the new format as yet, but I do like Swell because I feel audio is the next big thing to happen. People also do not have great attention spans today, but at the same time, it's a great way to connect with people, and it has a very interesting vibe. I'm really new, and maybe that's why I'm so excited about this platform, but looking forward to connecting with lot more people here and listening to a lot more voices

But what I was doing with TikTok, how I got the monetization from Facebook, was because I was on TikTok and I was taking the videos after I would post them on TikTok. I was taking those videos and putting them on Facebook and Instagram. And so they were getting a lot of traction that, not, to be perfectly honest with you, I'm not even sure how things progress like they do, like they did with TikTok

I remember when Instagram came out with that Threads platform, and everybody was talking about threads, threads, threads. I heard nobody talking about it in a hot minute now, but everybody was talking about threads. I mean, threads to me was just like Twitter. It was like Twitter adjacent. It wasn't anything special

Whereas with a social platform like this or an audio, a platform like this, you can hear a person's voice, you can hear the inflections in their speech, you can gauge the tone and the tenor of their message. It's a lot easier to do that when you can hear it versus reading it and having to draw your own conclusion as to the angle of that message
