Restaurant Charges $50 Fee for Rowdy Children

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
It seems to be a great establishment outside of these $50 surcharges that they're handing out. So what say you, swell family? I mean, parents especially. How would you feel going to a restaurant with your family, getting your bill at the end of the night and being upcharged because your children were a bit too loud or a bit too restless during the time you all were there?

I also say again to parents who feel like, well, just because we have kids doesn't mean we can't go out. I'm a big proponent of knowing what season you are in your life. We live in a day and age where I can do whatever I want, whenever I want and the truth of the matter is, life is about balance, harmony, and knowing what season you're in

So we did not go to restaurants like that until we were older. We were able to sit and wait to be served. We were able to not get restless waiting for our food, things like that. So our parents didn't take us there when we were small, small kids. And I think that, like you said, some parents just need to realize, okay, our kids aren't old enough for this type of restaurant. We need to stick to the restaurants that cater to children

Some people want to go to a really beautiful place, have a really good experience, and they don't want screaming kids in the background, screaming, crying, running around, potentially knocking their chairs into them. They don't want that. So instead of this restaurant saying no kids allowed, they do this. And then if you want to split a plate, that's a no no with them. So they do that

I wouldn't eat there because they seem like they're hard to get along with. I don't care how good the food is, but I'm sure plenty of people will eat there, and plenty of people will be hit with a charge and be upset and maybe someone will be worth it, who knows? But anyway, this is interesting. It definitely makes you think a little bit, so I appreciate you kind of reporting on this so that we could kind of chime in a little bit

Hey, Tanya, this is a very interesting post. So I feel like this restaurant so here's the thing. There's a bunch of restaurants, right, and this one is trying to cater to a certain audience. I personally don't think it's wrong of the restaurant. I also believe that if we take the time to research where we want to go eat, we should be able to understand if that's going to be a restaurant that is family and kid friendly

I ain't trying to be funny, but yeah, I wish I had one of those applause tracks so that I can listen. When when I'm, when I go out to a restaurant, I'm going out to sit down and to enjoy my dinner. If I'm by myself, then I just want to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant and be able to sit there and relax, get my thoughts together and enjoy my food

Of course, by them running a restaurant, I'm sure they see plenty of instances where parents really just don't put a lot of effort into getting their kids under control. Because I think some parents have learned how to tune out some of that stuff, and so they just kind of tune it out for the sake of let's just eat dinner and tune out some of that kid craziness

You're going to have very straightforward American dishes. And so if you want to avoid children, maybe we need to redo our business model and make it more of a fine dining type establishment so that the costs and everything will be more suited to people of a certain financial place, and then maybe redo the entire ambiance or atmosphere so that it is more for adults and not for children

So it's just best to go to a restaurant that is okay, where you're going to be surrounded by other tables of kids that are doing the same thing. And I think that's best. And then that probably will save everybody a lot of trouble, offense and embarrassment and hurt feelings and what have you. So thank you so much for this. It was great

SIS, you are so funny. He said, Look, I don't want your kids running around me either. How about that? But yeah, I mean, me too. If I'm out having dinner, I don't want somebody else's kids all up in my face
