The Rise of the "Rich Aunty" movement

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
Hey, swell cast family. Happy Thursday to each one of you. So, in the last couple of years, I've noticed that there is a movement that has started to build traction, and it is called the rich auntie movement. Now, what is the rich auntie movement? It is a movement of predominantly black women, single black women who have decided to not have children. They've decided that they're not really interested in marriage, they're not really interested in family

But if a lot of women are opting out of that, we're going to see some repercussions because we're supposed to be fruitful and multiply. And if we're purposely stopping population growth, we're going to see it. I'm not sure what that's going to happen. These same rich aunties are going to need I don't know, we need people. We need young people to build our infrastructure. We need young people to come up with new inventions

Hello. To correct my reply, I thought about it. After I hit send, I mentioned Kendra G as the YouTuber that's the head of this movement, the anti black male movement. It's actually Cynthia G. So right. I had the correct last initiative, but the wrong first name. So I just want to make sure I put that out there so I'm not putting the wrong name

Get your career going. Enjoy your life. Go out here and have fun, then get married when you're older. As if men are just waiting for us to get to 30 before we decide to settle down

And I think for a lot of the reasons that you stated and others is this whole push to be laser focused on God and come to every Bible study and come to every prayer meeting. And to be honest, it doesn't leave much time for anything else. And we don't push the family. The church darn near worships marriage and darn near worships married people, but they will look at single people as if, well, you're not in this marriage. Click. You can't get in

I was talking to different guys here and there casually, but I never really opened myself up to a serious relationship. And that is one of my regrets, I will say, and I'm not going down that path ever again. I'm in a different church now, but I'm not nearly as enmeshed, I will say, into that as I was into my last church. But I did not open myself up for dating. Now, God can do all things

Hi, Tanya. I gave a subsequent reply to Nikia about a new swell, but I see in your reply you want to get a question and answer going. So I'll wait for you. And I'd love to join you on that conversation

Hey, SIS. I see a reply to Nikia. You can go ahead and get it started. I was going to talk about, like, how we tell our daughters to, you know, delay family and marriage and stuff for career and education, but I think yours is more church focused, so go ahead with yours and we can just get a few conversations going

I think to some degree, they have looked back and realized they probably wasted their time trying to make children, and they're just one of those that it just doesn't work out for them in that sort of way. Lady who I was talking with, she was 33 years of age, no kids. And at first I thought she must have thought it was an amazing thing

If you were to have another one, you'd be in this game full time parenting for the better part of 40 years before you're done. And that means that, yeah, I had a cut off actually. My youngest was born at 35. All the doctors let me know that I was old and it was a geriatric pregnancy, I accepted that. But I definitely wasn't going to do that again because that was pretty much I was already considered old then. So started all over

And so she regrets not being able to have children, although it's not anything that she did, it's medical, but yeah, I think they will grow to regret it. And then I guess I'll wait for you all to start this well topic about the church. I'm going to play devil's advocate in that because I don't agree with you all. I don't think the church well, let me say it this way

I'm just saying that before we make this decision, are we sure that we want to forsake having children ever and just lend ourselves to working and building and growing and doing all this stuff on our own by ourselves? And I just think that before a woman hangs up her fertility hat, that maybe she should be solid on her position with that, because that's a big decision to make, to not have children. That's a big decision

And so they're just deciding, you know what, maybe they feel in their mind the continued desire for those things is getting in the way of them experiencing happiness in the present. So they just decided, you know what, I'll just be the rich auntie because if I can't control getting married and if I can't control having children, then I'll just be the rich auntie. And I think for some women, they're looking for a purpose in that

I typically like to date older men, but as I get older, I see that that number is Dwindling down because my youngest daughter, her dad is 13 years older than me. But when I was 30, that was cool, right? Because he was still in his forty s. I don't know if I want to be with somebody 70 right now. I just don't know

And it is no one else's business to judge, to make a determination, or to make a call on it. I feel like if a woman feels or if anyone feels some type of way about it, well, then have kids. Have your own kids. Or if a man feels some type of way, well, get with your wife and make some kids. Do your part to contribute in bringing forth new life. But it is this woman's women have fought hard for that, right

However, we do need to be fruitful and multiply. We need to keep this earth going, and so we do need to have children. But of course, everybody in the world does not have to have children for that to happen. And I think that men what I'm seeing is a lot of men are frustrated with these women who choose the rich auntie movement because they feel like these women are being selfish
