Why Do Women Give Birth Laying Down?

And so they were sitting upright so that the baby, which is going to be turned downward, can come out and not fight against gravity, because naturally, what comes up, what goes up must come down, so the baby must come down. And to me, it would make more sense, and it would be easier for a woman to deliver a baby standing up or sitting upright, where the, you know, vagina is pointed downward and the baby can just slip out

I think that had they let me do it my way and let me push my baby out by standing or. Or either, you know, squatting and letting gravity help me to push my child out, my children, it would have went a lot better. It's just like when you go to the dentist and you have a toothache, and then they take your blood pressure and they say, wow, your blood pressure is kind of high. Yes, because I'm in pain. Same thing there

Birth lying down seems more comfortable to hold for some labor—especially with complications.

But if the baby is breech or the umbilical cord is wrapped or something emergent happens that. That the mother needs immediate care and a c section is necessary or something along those lines, then you wouldn't really want her in a standing position or even, you know, in a pool of water. The same with natural birth, even as far as that goes
