Do well at what you’re good at, not what you want to be good at

And that really hit home for me because I know that a lot of times, especially in the social media space, we see certain things that are trending and we want to also jump on that bandwagon and be part of that. He was talking about relationships

It's almost like God given us tools, and then we just set it aside to look at what other people are doing across the street. And how are we going to perfect our own gifts if we're trying to mimic other? So. And I think there's another quote by Bruce Lee, too. I just didn't put it here. But he mentioned about practicing on being the best you that you could be. You never know what you could be if you keep trying to duplicate someone else

Finding purpose - building on strengths.

You. Building on our strengths and identifying our strengths and the things that we actually enjoy, especially the ones that folks tell us are stupid, is all in there with finding your purpose. I love this one, and I think this is something that I'm actually going to talk to our students about today. It's great to work on your strengths. A lot of times I've spent my whole life running against the grain, developing strengths and all of that

It's viewed as, oh, it's a passion. It's just something you love to do. But, no, some people are really gifted at being able to communicate with children, understand children, and help children, teach children. That's a gift that some people have, that others don't have. But we don't look at those things as a gift

Hey, Shawna, you know, I know parents and they mean well, but they'll tell their children, you can be anything you want to be. But is that true? Can our children really be whatever they want to be? Because our children have strengths and weaknesses, and I believe that parents should focus on one developing their children's strengths instead of telling them they can be whatever they want to be and then realizing, okay, my child doesn't have a gift in that particular area

Hey Tanya. Yeah, it's interesting that you use the podcasters as an example, because it's always a great example of people who are just jumping into something because of what other people are doing. And many of them jump into podcasting and giving quote unquote relationship advice because they are basically disgruntled persons who have something against the other gender. Usually. Typically, I can't spend no more than 30 seconds listening to many of them. I don't listen to them at all, actually

And as you had mentioned, Tanya, when God's holy spirit drops within what was always meant for our individuality, you are in the right place. Remember who walks with you always, and there are adjustments to make and milestones to meet on our path. That Jesus walks with us in his grace, perfect in your gifting, not the world's. And I am a writer and poet and that's one of my gifts. Thanks, Becky

And so I need to flow in what God has called me to do instead of flowing in what seems logical or makes sense, because I'm a believer, I'm a woman, and I'm single, so I need to do that. It was kind of like taking the low road instead of the high road

And for what we are going to see in these coming times with these younger people and the ones to come is that they're going to be so uniquely, and I don't mean in the sense of them being an individual, but something we have never seen uniquely gifted in all realms, that we're going to need to create a culture that accommodates that with a lot of space for that type of not just exposure, but trial

And I've stepped out on other things and been like, wow, I am not good at this at all. But yes, we can learn valuable lessons from both experiences. So thank you so much
