You are your budget personified
If someone totaled up the money, does it reflect what you say is important to you? Do you know how to adjust your budget so that you can put those financial priorities in there? As a personal finance coach, I help people look at what their money is currently doing. We have conversations around what we actually want our money to do, and then we create alignment. We bring those two together as much as we can
So anyway, I'm not blaming the skill sets solely on owning a business. I think that there's plenty of business owners who still do not manage their money accordingly. But I feel like at the bare minimum, it's a really good practice to have that consistent observation of spending. And another financial quote I heard online once was pretty much saying that if you don't know where your money is going, then you're not keeping any of it

When they didn't know what their money was doing, they were always surprised at the places that it went and it was never in their pockets. And I think that money is one of those things.
