She was the person with a dark skinned but still she was the celebrated beauty of her times and the worth that she didn't know of herself until she met Lord Krishna who made her realize that if a problem is seen as a problem then it will be a problem. And that line is what made me attracted to this book

A brief statement on my opinion about the novel, The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Hi, Minal. Thanks for sharing your views on the palace of Illusions. It's one of my favorite books as well. And as you haven't completed the book, I wouldn't want to give away too much. I would want you to experience the loveliness of the writing, layered writing in the book by Chitra Banerjee. One thing which really stood out for me was the fact that throughout the book, chitra Banerjee doesn't stray away from the actual facts of the Mahabharata

@Ramya The last queen of India- Michelle Moran

Another book that I would actually recommend in terms of having the story told from a different perspective, especially in Indian mythology or Indian history, is The Last Queen of India. It's by Michelle Morin. It's basically the story of Rani Lakshmi Bai through one of her female soldier us. So I think that's a great read as well

You're definitely ramya. I will let you know what I feel about the book once I complete reading this. If the first couple of pages could make me speechless then you can imagine what would be my reaction after completing this whole book. So thank you for encouraging me

Now. First of all Meenal, congratulations for doing this review of palace of Illusions coming to this book. It's actually a beautiful book and I feel like every Indian woman has to read it. Because even before reading this book itself Panjali has been an inspiration for me. As though we say we women of 21st century are liberated, we have more freedom

And as Panjali said, everyone are silent now nobody has the answer to my question where everyone chose their own Dharma, but none chose the Dharma as a husband. Dharma of that of a husband. Which is why she was humiliated. And at the time when she was assaulted, when she was abused, where she was dragged by the hair, it was said that she was menstruating and she was in a single piece cloth. And you can imagine the embarrassment and the shame that a woman must have faced
