Neurodiverse,Neurodivergent, still ADHD

article image placeholderUploaded by @markjohn
I've had it for 60 plus years. I was diagnosed when I was six years old, before it was even called ADHD. It's called hyperkinetic disorder. So to me, I just don't see the point of hiding behind a name or an umbrella name. But I'd like to hear your opinion about that, because a lot of people don't like giving up information that they have, ADHD or whatever, but ADHD is a gift

Why hide behind a title?

But if people aren't going to take the time or aren't interested or only have a superficial understanding of one of the particular labels under neurodivergence and they're not interested in learning more, then why not give them more general term of neurodivergence? It facilitates the conversation or what's happening in the moment to whatever end is needed without it having to get into the other details. Like I would prefer there to be a greater understanding and awareness and acceptance for autism, Audhd. But people just aren't

I said, well, I'm with all these kids that some of them can't talk and some of them are, I hate to say, mentally retarded. And she goes, what do you mean you're in that car? I go yeah, they put me in that class because they said I belong there. My mother was sicilian. She ran down there and made a big stink at the school. And then they realized that, oh, you're just advanced, duh
