Why is term "Cisgender" a Trigger for Some People?

For many cisgender people, the term may initially feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, and I get that. But the discomfort, however, should not be misinterpreted as an insult, because it's not. It's an opportunity for self reflection and growth. And if you can at least try to embrace the term, you can contribute to breaking down outdated societal norms and expectations that surround gender

It's CisGEN people. So I'm a woman. I've always been a woman, and I will always be a woman. I was born a woman. I was a little girl. I was a baby girl. Then I was a little girl, then I was a teenage girl, then I was a young lady, then I was a young girl, and then I was a woman. And I'll always be a woman. I'll never be a CIS woman

@Andrea_Speaks

It is how I was born. It is how they were born. It is who I am. It is who they are. Did you decide to be a cisgender woman? Oh, wait a minute. That's probably insulting to you. No, it's how you were born. This term is actually considered by many to be a medical term. It is a term for people whose gender identity generally matches the gender assigned for their physical sex, their sex assigned at birth

So I think that in our LGBT community and I'm gay, I think that I respect transgender people, and it was hard for me to grasp my mind around that. But I have transgender friends, and I really learn the suffering that transgender people go through, and I just can't imagine what it's like to be born that way and learn that it is not a choice, by the way. Nobody would choose that. And I wish people could grasp their mind even around being gay

That's what we're fighting for. So that's not really a logical argument that we should let that part go for letting you live your own life and have your own beliefs about it. I agree. But the actions in society, like I'm a teacher and teachers getting fired for being gay, which happened to me just this year, and in other jobs is not right. Being bullied in the workplace for being gay is

I used to be somebody that didn't want to be gay, and I tried to change myself because I thought it was a choice, and I couldn't. But I understand people who fear it and don't believe that it's right. And you have a right to do that and believe what you want and live the life what you want

I think what's important to understand is that no one is pushing or just like a lady that responded to me earlier, no one is making her use the term cisgender. She never has to use the term. I think I actually said that in my response

You not to carry on the response, but thanks for your response to my response. That was excellent. I really like how you talked about people learning to adapt and to change. And it's very interesting. I was sitting here thinking while you were talking is why is it that differences are so upsetting to people? I had made a Facebook boost on one of my Homo Sanity podcasts, and the hate and vitriol that I got back in the comments was just awful and just the ignorance
