Intelligent play as adults

She focuses on burnout prevention, specifically with leaders who are focused on climate, specifically female leaders who are focused on climate. And she's really careful that she doesn't want to be seen as somebody who prescribes yoga and ice baths and breath work. While those things certainly are helpful, in her opinion, it's so much deeper than that

Play leverages your genius #leadership #growth #goals

And I think it applies to what you're saying here about intelligent at play as adults and inserting joy into things. And that's a really wonderful way to shake up our professional worlds and especially if we're in Climate. So thank you for posing this question and sharing what you know about it

And what I'm aware of that I still remember from when I did that is that I'd show up with really good energy as I'm on my bike. I can feel any stress that might be from where I was coming from kind of trailing behind me like a streamer on the bike

This is a topic that I'm passionate about and so I love that this is her focus and I love that the two of you are working together with her on this. I'm not in the workforce, however, I have chronic health issues, chronic pain, et cetera. And I like to keep my brain agile. But I also need to embrace, remind myself of those moments of joy. And and so I do that with I called things like adult play or I have a hashtag plum plays

@SeekingPlumb #JoyAsAnActOfResistance

And I was really nodding my head when you were talking about that and thinking in terms of in the work I do, which is with a lot of business leaders and kind of in that space, a lot of times I feel like I have to give them permission to even be more authentic, let alone joyful. And I think the idea is that if you do give them permission to be more authentic, then they are going to let the joy of them as humans kind of emerge as well

No wonder we have difficulties with regulation of just about anything in a world that's moving exponentially rapid and so much change is happening. And we say, you must live under these constraints. And so telling an adult that they have permission almost seems fitting. And yet it is utterly heart wrenching that that is the world that we live in. I really, really like the title of that album. I love that so much

Christina, I love your take on this and am reminded as you're talking, I find myself in situations periodically with family where one of the kids feels like the other one isn't playing with them or something like that is happening. And I remind that kid that the best way to engage and play is to find something that you love doing. Do it. Do it near them, near the other kids, and to let your joy be the invitation

@SeekingPlumb who you are is GOOD

And so this child who has a brain that's a rapid processor that can synthesize multiple patterns across multiple conversations, gets told that who they are is bad. And when you're told that, what it feels like on the inside is that you have impulses, we always know who we are. Our heart has been whispering to us our entire lives. We always know who we are. But we get these external messages that are incongruent with the internal message

Just to respond quickly. Lori, that point that you said about how we filter out distractions from our lives so that we can focus and what that actually can be doing with regard to making sure that you have joy or you see new. Things in new ways, et cetera. I really take that point to heart because because to your point and with the clients that I work with as well, they get really tightened up and buttoned up and think that they can't be themselves on a social platform

And the reason I say this is like being an unethical doctor with a prescription pad, is you are writing yourself a prescription for something that you're addicted to instead of saying back to the idea of play. There are endless opportunities. All things could fit together. All relationships are possible. And so for folks who have gotten to the point where they feel like there aren't any options, they run out of time, they have to walk a very narrow path

perception, meditation, giving yourself agency

And I guess the way that I talk about it with my clients is what makes you think you don't like social media or you don't have time or it's not worth doing to be visible online or to step fully into being a climate influencer. And it ends up being, well, it takes a lot of time
