Did teaching to be independent keep me single

And I do still have a certain distaste about it because it feels like they don't want any involvement. But I don't know what I'm doing. So if my I can't go to my parents and ask them for advice on relationships and be comfortable asking them for it, I'm eventually going to be asking around other people that probably have no, they don't have my best interest on the subject

Oh, this is interesting. I haven't experienced this personally or yeah, I have a different experience of my parents and me and my dating life, but I have heard people I've known, people who have had similar experiences, where they feel like, almost like that that reflex from the parents is kind of like a protective thing. We can't let our little girl go

So hello, how are you? And I just want to hop on here and give some insights to what you were talking about, about being independent and kind of made me think about my life. I'm in my sixty s and I have three sons and they're in their thirty s and I never talked to my son about marriage. And as I reflect back as I was growing up, my parents never came up. And so mine was like father, like son, I guess

So maybe them trying to teach me to be independent, I can look at it as a positive thing so that I'm not so dependent on my partner and kind of reflect back on the negative parts of it or the things that you can just be better at. So that's like a really great perspective on that and I appreciate you for bringing that up. I think the other part of why it does bother me is because I would love to have involvement from my parents and my relationships

I thank you, Ro, for mentioning that I am not the only one going through this. Sometimes it feels like we're the only one going through these things, even though there's millions of people, billions of people in this world. I'm pretty sure, now that I think about it, I'm not going to be the only one having these type of challenges. So it's nice to kind of, you know, be brought back to reality and understand that it's just a struggle
