#askswell | Should you purchase a home in your 50’s

article image placeholderUploaded by @LadyFi
Do we really want to buy a home, or should we buy a building and rent it out? I don't want to think that it's too late for me to buy a home. I want to think that it's okay. But also we have to think about our health. Is our health up to par where we can own a home? And I'm not saying own a home as in, oh, you can't own a home because you're older

And I want my own campground instead of a bed and breakfast, I want to be my own campground host, as crazy as that may sound. But should you? Yeah, you should do whatever the hell you want to do. Once you get past 50, the time you're going to be alive is shorter than the time you've already lived. So you might as well keep on living and

I would love to have the opportunity and chance to be able to show people what I could do to entertain them as well as offer them very comfortable surroundings where they felt like they were at home just in a more celebratory fashion. So thank you so much, because it just woke it up again in me saying, you know what? This is what you want. This is what you should be going after. So I appreciate that so much. Thank you

Yes!

Someone in their 50s could buy it, get a 15 year mortgage, pay down on it and have it paid for and living debt free before someone that got their house much earlier. So that's not an issue. And they could still use it as an investment. If that's the case, live in it and sell it. Live in it and rent it. That never goes out of style. It might be the house they want to pass down to their kids

You. Thank you so much for responding to this. Well, thank you so much. I feel encouraged. I feel like this is what we can do, and I'll have to see if that's what me and my husband want to do. But I feel encouraged. Thank you for the encouragement, because it doesn't mean anything because I'm older, that I can't have what I want if I can afford it. So thank you so much

Had to replace a stove. My fridge, the one that came with my house, it was crappy anyway. I had to replace that. I had to replace my washer and dryer. I bought one when I moved into my house and the washer went out. So I had to buy a new washer. I had to fix my roof. I had a leak in my roof. I had two or three people up there claiming they fixed the leak. The leak was still there

You can always get out of it and go back to doing what's most comfortable for you, but at least you can look back and say, you know what? We tried it. We tried it, and now we know it wasn't for us. So I pray for you guys, that you guys make the right choice, but don't be afraid. And if you have any questions about buying a house, the process of it and all that, just let me know

But you get the flexibility of being able to do whatever you want with your home and enjoy it without people telling you what you can and cannot do. Or living above or below someone. Which we don't currently, but however, I have. But anyway, thank you so much for responding and letting me know all the benefits of owning a home, as well as the responsibilities and the fun. Thank you so much
