So do you think that the movies that are nominated for oscars are good movies? And if you do, which one did you enjoy the most? And if not, tell me why

You have no idea the can of worms you have just opened. Lady Phi, I have strong opinions of the Oscars, and I'm going to give you the lowdown of someone who has dreamt of winning an Oscar his entire life. I used to watch the Oscars religiously, and yeah, I haven't watched it in a few years. Like I said, I missed when moonlight. When Moonlight won the Oscar, that was the year that they announced the wrong winner. It was a big deal

That's what it was at its height. Schindler's list, like I said, an incredible, incredibly made movie. I really did like that one. Quite a think, let me think. Oh, my goodness, there's so many. Kramer vs. Kramer. I thought that was a good movie. And it was Oscar Worthy because it was about a family situation and how they dealt with it. Now, Rocky, I always enjoy Rocky. I don't care what it is

He goes on to make Magnolia another amazing movie. But then he makes there will be blood. Now this is an Oscar worthy film. The 2008 Oscars were wild. It ended up losing to, I believe, no country for old men. But that was a good year for movies, and he got left out in the cold. He was nominated for best writing, best directing and best motion picture, and he didn't win. Then nominated again for writing inherent vice. That wasn't very good

But I just feel like the Oscars is a popularity contest and I know that they vote on it and stuff like that, but why are they the only people voting on it? I strongly believe that we, the consumers, the people that pay the good money to be able to go out here and watch these movies should be the ones that are voting on this stuff and more regularly, I'll say that. So there are so many

It is really interesting to see that this year Barbie was nominated for as many awards as it was because it's not the type of film that historically you would see the Academy giving a lot of love to. But having said that, I also think it's interesting where they're choosing to give that film love. I don't believe Greta Gerwig was nominated for best director, which I think is kind of silly

He was in so many movies before that that should have won oscars. It's ridiculous. And, yeah, like you're saying there's actors that are stacking these up, but yeah, there's no, like, multi, you don't see that with other races. That's what's, and then what happened was, in my mind, and this is another thing, is that he won the same year as Halle Berry for Monsters Ball

I don't really think I've even really seen that many films this year, but I'm going to take a look and see if you're right. But, yeah, you got movies like. Yeah, there's a lot of good movies on there anyways. Yeah, this was brilliant. Yeah. I agree with everything you said

But, yeah, I think many of them are not worth the hype. It's the same thing with books that are traditionally published. A lot of them get a lot of hype because they're published by one of the big five, like Penguin or Harper's Collins or something like that. And you hear all this buzz about it and then when you read it, it's like, oh, my gosh. Like, why?

So there are several out there to choose from. We just need to choose better and be given the option to choose because, no, there are several I cannot deal with. And I agree with you, sir, I really do

I won't say that I. I don't know that I didn't like everything everywhere. It was interesting. However, it was all over the place. That's why I said it. I mean, I like the storyline of her trying to make an alternative universe for her to do some things differently, make some better choices. I don't want to tell the whole story, but it just seemed jumbled to me, just seemed out of place

Like, for instance, if you google it, the 25 Oscar, Oscar winning movies hype nay say you should watch before you die. I mean, if I'm going to watch something, it's not going to be the Deer Hunter or West side Story. Like I said, moonlight, amadeus. No, thank you. No, thank you

Well, I googled it myself, and in answer to my own question, to win an Oscar, a movie must meet certain criteria set by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and I'm just going to read what it says. You have to have technical excellence. A movie should be exceptional cinematography, sound design, editing, visual effects. The elements should work together to create a visually stunning film, a quality film. A movie should be well written, well directed and well acted

So it's just sometimes for me, I really think that they just have an agenda on who they want to move up in the Hollywood world, who's next up. So whatever they get behind, they just push it. Because there's been too many great movies that has never won the Academy Award and too many trashy movies that has. So that right there for me showed me that it's time for me to stop looking at it. Because it's a popularity contest

No, this was money. This was money. This was somebody saying, oh, she's in it, let's promote her. Or this person deserves it because I said so. You're not the only person watching it. And if it's not, look, for instance, there have been some movies that have done so well at the box office, and people have said it's not going to do good. For instance, Iron Man. Iron man did so good at the box office

I mean, Denzel Washington has been in some wonderful movies and he never even got nominated for those, just for the one with know performance and portrayal of this crooked cop in training day. And then Halle Berry got what she got anyway. But like you said, jamie Foxx and Forrest Whitaker and then Will Smith, he got it for King Richard, and then Sidney Poitier, like you said, in 1964, he got that. He got the best actor award
