I was having a conversation with my mom yesterday, and my mom is a Boomer, and I'm Gen X and my daughter is Gen Z. And my mom and I were talking about the Civil Rights movement and how they did everything. How they marched, how they had pee thrown on them and hot sauce put in their eyes and dogs sick on them and how they continue to follow Reverend Jesse Jackson's advice and remained calm and marched because Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

And he had to make a hard decision in terms of sacrificing one, which was his nephew, and letting them drag this boy out the house kicking and screaming, and then days later being murdered, or the next day being murdered, brutally murdered. And I thought, damn, to have to endure that, to be in a position where here I am in my nice country club community, someone busts through my doors and they drag a family member out, and I can do nothing

And my mom was like, well, why didn't you just ignore her? Okay, difference, Boomer. Difference. Gen X. We're not going to play that. We lay hands. I told you. But see, I wish that I had just ignored her, but it was so blatant what she was saying, and everybody was watching
