#askswell | Do Animals really understand us or is it the repetition of what we say that they understand?
Like when we say something and we point or we say something and then they get food, or we say something and then they go outside for a walk, is it the repetition that they understand? Or do you think they can actually understand what we say because they can't talk back to us? I mean, they can make gestures and we know the love that they share with us because we feel it. But they can't talk. Not yet

Good morning, Evelyn girl yes, they understand. This is why I don't cut my animals no slack. We have a cat and we have a dog. Okay? You don't think they understand? Say something about some food. And I'm not talking about going to the pantry and grab their bag of food. Just stand in the living room and say, Food. And see if they don't come running. They will. They understand
And anyway, it's hard to say because every parent seems to use different words in their collection of buttons. But there is one account of a dog, her name is bunny, and she probably has the largest library of words, lexicon that I've ever come across when it comes to pets using these buttons

Oh, my goodness. Are you serious? I actually went to Instagram and looked at this. Oh, my gosh. My dog would be pressing that button all day. Like, she would just be pressing buttons, because I really do believe that she understands me, but I also think she understands the commands more so you know, than she actually understands the words that are coming out of my mouth. But this was so interesting. Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much for sharing this

Yeah, I know, right? Like if my dog hears a bag rattling, she is ready to come in there and get something to eat. But I still think, like, is it the fact that we say food and they know the word food means eat because we've said food and then put food in their bowl and then told them to come on so they can eat?

What's going on? Evelyn zach here. Love this question. I'm an animal lover, so I really had to jump in. So, yeah, for me I think it's repetition. Like, you know, like you said, just I say this word and then this happens. So they get to understand, okay, when this happens, this happens

She has a hamster. We have them because they make us feel good. My husband loves fish, so we have an aquarium. The thing of it is, it's the calming effect that they give us. It's the love that they give us, and it's the time that they give us. And honestly, I'm glad that they're here. I'm really glad that God created them and let us enjoy it, too. But, yes, Zach, you are absolutely correct

I think some breeds of dogs are more intelligent than others. But I think dogs once you've had a dog for a while and I would say, like a couple of years, I think you do develop your own language and your own way of communicating with your dog. And other people may not understand it when they come in because it's not their dog, but I do believe that know you can have that. This is a fun. Swell. Thanks for inviting me

Thank you. Ms. Andrea mitzi, huh? That's a really nice name for dogs. I can see why he did that. Over and over and over. Your dog extremely smart, extremely sensitive, and full of love. I'm assuming because she would wait, you know, for people to come out of church and everything like that

But yeah, I believe that they're the ones operating in a different frequency. And I feel like us humans need to get up to date with nonverbal and other types of communications. It says, like telepathic communication. When they're barking, they're communicating. They can send when the weather is going to change. Flor other animals, I don't know. They're very intelligent. Yes, I do believe they understand completely. I believe they understand more than we can imagine. And

What if they are are so much more ahead of us than we think? And that's what I was saying earlier. They can't talk yet. I think that God put animals down here for us to learn some stuff. Not for us necessarily to teach them, but we learn from them. I learn patience and I learn joy and acceptance from my dog. She's beautiful and she's so kind to us. And we're kind to her because we love her. But I agree. Angels

Then there's the other cat with me when I was sick. Her name is Pigeon. She's in my purse, a stray doggie that I found. And the last one is the orange cat that I was talking about. We named her Mango because she's orange

It. Thank you for sharing that you have such a love for animals. They need you. Yes, we tear up their habitats. I tell my husband all the time this is their territory. We infringed on their territory. The more we build and into the woods and stuff like that, they have to flee and go someplace else. So it makes them not be in their natural habitat, you know? But I care so much about animals, and I see that you do too

Hey, Evelyn. I don't know if you're on Facebook, and so I don't know if this link would open if you just touch it, but I just came across a video. I'll tell you what it is, but you see well, if you can open it, you'll see it. If you can't open it, let me know, and then I'll tell you what the video is. But this is so funny. It's right in line with your swell

It. That was so cute. Oh, my gosh. Talk about communication. They understand. And then she looked like I know you're not talking to me, but then she got in the back. That was so cute. Thank you
