Teacher’s Journal: Mixed Reflections

I get the sentiment, but I think that whole 50% thing sets your kids up for failure. The other thing is you want. A lot of these kids are also judged on state exams. That's how they judge them. There's one thing judging internally by grades, but compared to everybody else in the state, when they want to go to different high schools or colleges or other programs, the way they're judged against other students are by state tests

And it's also a message to the higher ups, without saying it, that I am not going to change certain things and I am going to have certain expectations the way I run things, regardless of what I'm told, just because I think it's that important and that I want to shape a classroom that's safe for everybody and I want to help develop them as individuals and these kind of behaviors go against that

What's the standard of success? #DEI #content #care #divergent #audience

What are the things that help enforce educational excitement and creating kind of that educational roadmap for that student and then developing curriculum and developing the educational environment that best suits that person, their mind, how that mind works and what they're looking to do in their career. Now, can a six year old tell you who they'll be at 18 and 28?

Another way they try to do things is take things that work in silos for such students where there is more resources poured in those students per individual and try to apply that in a classroom of let's say 30 kids. And it doesn't work nearly the same because then you have one teacher trying to do a bunch of individual things for these kids rather than scale across 28

And if you do that well, you decide to go to college, you're one step above the remedial math that a lot of people are required to take because they didn't get the math education they needed in school. So it kind of prepares you well if you're not, say, trying to compete at elite levels of the more, I guess, the more traditional routes for education

@kwa It's such a shame that we live in a country that fails to see the real value of education 😔 #dobetter #educate #DEI #content #future

And for us to live in a country that really fails to understand that we need to invest more resources in our educational system as a whole, not just making sure that children can get to school and there's food to be eaten and the teachers are paid minimum of what they should be paid, but that we really double down the same way that we want to give white glove service to certain echelon of people in our society, that is the type of attitude, that is the type of honoring that is needed for our educators, that's needed for the facilities, that's needed for the resources for the extra tutoring and for modified programming
