Job Search Tips?

But I've also talked to students in the neighborhood and it has a very mixed one. And a charter school. I feel like I have the same sort of problems I have there that I do here. I have another. What's another? And I'm missing one more interview. I think I forgot where, but I don't know that I'm satisfied with all my options. And I'm wondering, you know, I have a background in business and finance

When my partner got pregnant, she had went to law school for a while and wanted to take advantage of that, and I decided, I don't know. And I was doing a job doing like a budgeting and capital expenditure planning for a manufacturing company in the area. And I decided to switch out of that for the time being and give her the opportunity to start on her career after law school a few months, some six months after the baby was born

Hey, Kwa, thank you for sharing your story with us about being an education field, as well as your personal life story as to why you chose in the field. Just like you, I was in education as a substitute teacher and as a TA

If you want to stay with education, if you want to work, let's say Department of Transportation, Department of Corrections, those are the larger agencies. I now work for mental health, doing the same kind of thing because every state agency has business, fiscal side of it, and my agency also has trainers. So anyone with an educational background, I'm telling you, you can really be utilized in any of the state agencies

Because for me, I mean, I want to speak for her, but for me, it's not necessarily about finding the right job or the right career, because I think you can find enjoyment in almost anything. And if you want to make an impact in the world, like, my impact is volunteering outside of work. I ultimately just want to be in a position where we have enough income and enough money that's working for us that we don't have to worry about money

My ultimate goal is financial access. So, yes, financial security control over my time and how I use it, and autonomy, meaning, you know, you mostly make your own decisions relevant to both your jobs and your personal life. And money and time go so much hand in hand because you talk about things like volunteering, which I used to do right now because of the

So I found, for me, contract work or temp work tended not to lead into a path that I wanted to go. It kind of just moved me in circles. But the networking thing, I think, is something I can definitely be much better at. I can't say where I've been lacking, but I haven't done that as effectively as I wanted

Although the interesting thing with government, as in with many things, you know, a lot of people apply and it, another user had mentioned the idea of a responder, how important networking might be to me. I find with a lot of these positions, some of it can be kind of shooting in the dark with you when you apply. So it really also helps to network intentionally and find the right person, though they say it doesn't really like work like that

So that all starts with the things that we do now and the things that we think about now in order to build that community. Like, how do we take away some of the stress away from a lot of these parents? Because that's a lot of what causes a lot of the instability within our community is a lot of the rental stress that always leads to, you know, kids with low self esteem

They post it, but they already have a person in mind and not so much their friends. But when I was a hiring manager, let's say we had a secretary who was classification as a secretary one, and we wanted her to be promoted as a secretary two, we couldn't just promote her. We had to do a whole job posting. We had to do interviews

Hey, kwa. Thank you for responding back to me. Yeah, I've always been terrible with networking. It was mostly, like, my family member that talked up for me back in the day. But, yeah, temp agencies can be very risky. My husband and I, we lucked up. You know, it was a blessing, too, because we're permanent at a very prominent corporation now, and we started off as temps

And I've never seen anything like it. It's so unusual because like I wish they paid people to do that because we are losing so much class time the whole month long because we're like not in our classes because we're having to facilitate M step and PSAT and sat for all the grades. So this is a k through twelve school and it's all month long to try and get these kids in and tested. It's just crazy, crazy on that

But that's interesting. I've done work tutoring like that, sort of full time, but it was hourly, so, like, they schedule it back to back to back to back to back because you don't really get paid for the time in between or much for planning and stuff. And that couldn't be a little bit. That was draining because essentially, like, you were basically at a robot intersect, right. There were no breaks in between

But what I was shocked by is that I don't have to. I don't have, like, you know, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th hour. I have 4 hours, which is really pretty amazing. And I have a. I have an hour break in between each hour, so. But that's not everybody's schedule either. But it's pretty much. Pretty similar, I think, around the board. And I think that just depends on the school also
