It's about a mentally challenged boy who is part of a science experiment that increases IQ. This book traces his journey, how his feelings change, how other people treat him differently over time, and eventually he loses his intelligence again and the painful journey through both phases is described. It's super good. I would totally, totally recommend it. The second book I would say would be Song of Atlas
