So a lot of times when things happen, for example, I'm invited to go to a place instead of me just saying no, I really don't want to, or I don't feel like it would be no because, well, my child is sick or my dog needs me and having to explain myself in some way. So I've decided in particular that's one of the things I'm kicking, I'm not reasoning or explaining myself anymore

But if both parties are not interested in maintaining the relationship, then sometimes there's nothing you can do but to let the relationship go. All right, so the next one for me, specifically, as a black woman that shows up in the body and the work that I do, showing up in spaces that don't honor my values but love my wisdom, is also one of those things that I'm kicking for this year

I'm talking about providing modifications for students that show up with pacemakers, making sure that there's multi languages if they have students of different ethnicities that need that in their classes, not appropriating cultures that do not belong to them. And yes, as YOVA teachers, it's very easy to say, oh well, I studied, I did the 200 hours program. And it's easy to then turn around and appropriate by taking on a Sanskrit name or then wearing a bendy
