How Do You Define Success?

article image placeholderUploaded by @KellyGPhD
So what does that mean when you're selecting your career, when you're planning not selecting, when you're planning your career path? For some people, it's status which is often associated with salary, but not always. It's more about being well respected and prestigious in whatever field you're in

Because I think to some degree that program, that script, that idea is always running in the back of the minds. At least I know it is mine. And with that comes significant forethought or foresight in everything I do. So I first wanted to leave with that and then just kind of segue into the fact that I think what I define as success is pardon the air conditioner unit that just turned on. How I define success personally is freedom

But I look for that freedom. And it might look different for me than it does for you, but I absolutely love that response. And I also, Kelly, love that you said that you have this conversation often with people in your life and that you think that we should all always be having it. Because I agree. I agree that we should be talking more about it and thinking more about it, rather than just everyone going around thinking that success equals it looks the same for everyone. Right?

Hi, Kelly. This is Nick. I really appreciate this question because I've been pondering this for some years now as I take on a more creative journey as a writer. And the way I define success is being my own boss and being able to create content that resonates with the black community as well as giving other people a window into our experience as a way to uplift and amplify black voices in predominantly white spaces

You leaving a legacy sounds like success for you. You said it in your other post, too, that your writing is your legacy. And you seem to have such a clear idea of, you know, you're not just saying, I want to be a writer. You're saying, I want to be a writer for the African American population and predominantly white spaces
