And she said, I've done some research on these state standardized tests, and oftentimes they use words to trip low socioeconomic people up or people who come from backgrounds where these type of words are not used in their everyday language. And then people answer the question wrong, all because they didn't understand one word. And so I have never forgotten that. And because of that, when I have conversations with my son, I even pause and will ask him to repeat back what he understands
