‘Last Night in Soho’ is a messy, unsatisfying throwback to ‘60s London
Terrence is interested in both creating an homage to psychological thrillers in which young women run through neon lighting, pursued by men with leather gloves and long knives, is certainly that Guillo homage, but at the same time the film is attempting to show how dangerous and violent and misogynistic the Six C setting was, how dangerous the world is for women. And while that is certainly an important element of the history to acknowledge it poisons his nostalgia for the time period, and it really stops the film dead in its tracks
