article image placeholderZephyr and Sayan, in conversation on Swell.
Hi and welcome to a fresh new segment of Indian Talk. Finally, what all of us have been waiting for. Today we have none other than Zephyr and Zion together known as Zephyrto Own are the cute couple duo as their older Instagram biored. Joining us beginning their journey as the youngest electronic pop duo in India back in 2015. Experimenting with a wide range of genres and composing super catchy peppy numbers and covers. They have come a long way from millions of views on YouTube to MTVEMA nominations

This is how ZEPHYRTONE was formed 💖

But he was so stubborn to the point, he gave me an explanation saying, Zeffer means by the seashore. It describes the kind of music we create, the soothing music that relaxes the mind. Eventually I was like, five years. That's very apt. As you wish

Oh, that's quite a story. And I have to say that I totally, totally agree with San because I really love your name and Zephyrtone sounds amazing. I love the ring of offered. So yeah, perfect decision. Have you always been passionate about pop or EDM or was there something or someone who kind of inspired you or sparked your interest in this particular genre of music

@Zephyrtone · 0:48
We are passionate about music. Like any genre, it does not matter as long as it sounds beautiful. So what sparked your interest in this particular genre of music? I would say the electronic dance music era. Back when we started our career it was all about electronic dance music. Edm was everywhere. Edm was at its peak. Everyone wanted to be an electronic dance music producer DJ. So did we

@Zephyrtone

Yeah. Consistency is the key, right. And I mean, it shows with all the success, the praise, the feeling that you're enjoying now, it shows that you have the been consistent with it, you have been at it. And that's why you're here. Can you tell me a little bit about the music scenario in India when you started out? Like, I'm pretty sure it wasn't all rosy and smooth sailing for you back then

The music industry 🙈

There's favoritism in the music industry. They only support artists whom they like and with whom they are in good terms with which we personally feel is unfair and biased. So in this process, the music becomes secondary. And that's very sad. Yes, it was difficult for us initially and still is, since we didn't have any contacts and we didn't know anyone personally in the industry. Unfortunately, no things in the music industry, it hasn't changed. Favoritism is still a thing

@Zephyrtone

It indeed is sad Zepho. That not just the music industry. I think in a lot of sectors, we see this reign of favoritism and bias, which presents a lot of hurdles and even stops new talent from getting discovered. New true raw talent from getting discovered. And that really does break my heart. But yes, definitely. Thank goodness for those handful of genuine people who actually believe in giving everyone a fair chance

Our work process 🎤

We are inspired by something new every day. It's a smooth process for us. Surprisingly, we never have conflicts of ideas while working on a project for us. It's never like, you know, we have to keep kill this song right now. No, it happens out of creative fun. It's always a result of an impromptu jam session. We are like, this sounds beautiful. Wow. This sounds nice. Wow. And suddenly we have a song, song ready

@Zephyrtone

Okay. As I say it, you guys sound like absolute couple goals, the compatibility, the sharing of interest. And yes, I completely, completely agree that a creative process needs to be taken at its own pace instead of trying to achieve something right at the moment. Or as you said, killing the track right now because that, in my opinion, doesn't ever work. We all know that you've performed extensively in College, Fest and easens, and went on quite a few music tours

Hey Aishani and Hello Zephyrtone. First of all, I would start by saying that these are some incredible, EDM music tracks that I've heard and I truly love the way you people put it up together as a whole. So my question to you people is like you being at the stage of getting bigger and better as time passes by every single day, who is your dream collab? Like, who is the person you would love to do a collab with? And you have that in your head

But we feel the northeast and down south cities like Hyderabad, Kerala, Bangalore, or the energy they give back is unreal. They know how to really have a good time. I wanted to ask that about any piece of advice that you received from any other artist when you started off with your career, when things were difficult and you had this motivation from the words or what you followed us to be successful and how you didn't give up on your dreams, because I think a lot of people give up their dreams at the beginning of their journey because a lot of negative comments come and people try to take away your dreams and they don't support you.
