What are your thoughts on the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Demonetisation?

So the Supreme Court of India has decided to uphold the demonetization policy which the government passed in the year 2016. Now, this was something that had a lot of controversy and was very tumultuous at the time for a variety of reasons. Without getting into esoteric debates as to whether this served the purpose that the policy intended on doing at the the time, the Court believes that it stands the test of proportionality

Even before this thing, there was no I mean the digital transaction of money or not even digital transaction, the people putting in money inside a bank account is very less compared to before and after demonetization. And now I'm very happy that people have brought in the I mean, broaden the habit of putting it money into bank. And now I can see even a small shop started to accept money in bank, right, thanks to the ballots

Hey, Karan. Not sure Justice Nagaratna's view was intentionally avoided, but yes, the five member constitution bench upheld the note span with a full to one majority. Though this was well intentioned and well thought of by the government, that the way this was implemented was the crux of the issue and the inconvenience cost was unforgettable. And this even hurts much when we come to know that the purpose was not fulfilled by this act of central government and the RBI
