Cassettes & karaoke machines

article image placeholderUploaded by @HoneyVee
When I was younger, we had a little karaoke machine that you could put a cassette tape in, plug your microphone, and record your voice onto the cassette tape. I would record myself singing. I would record myself talking to my sister, like, as if we were on a podcast at six years old. Seven years old. And sometimes I would even do news reporting, which is like, what is up?

Mixtapes, mixtapes, and more mixtapes.

And they actually had a cassette tape section, and I was hoping it was going to come back. I'd love to pull out my old Walkman or buy it up Walkman, even if you don't even know if you could do that, but buy a Walkman and play that. Like, the struggle that these kids didn't have to go through. I mean, you could just get music on demand on your Spotify app or Pandora or your Apple Music and play the song

You know, a friend handing me a CD with, like, 18 tracks on it, and all of them were different groups that I'd never heard of before. Those were the days. Yeah. I'm so nostalgic just thinking about it. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful, wonderful post

I probably shouldn't have and listening to it at that age. I digress. Anyways, the COVID album for the CD is like a fake burnt album. And I remember opening it up on Christmas morning and seeing it and saying to my parents oh my God, you have to take this back. It is a bootleg version of the album. I don't want this in my possession. You guys could get in trouble if you stole it. I didn't understand that that was the album artwork

Thanks, Dan. So much for recommending this app. When I saw it on your IG stories, I just knew it was something I would find fun, interesting, entertaining, all of the above. I really do hope that you enjoy this. This is just going to be one segment on my profile. Maybe you'll be interested in my iPad. Other segments, maybe not. But thank you so much for showing me this app because it's really fun and I like it a lot

Hey, Taylor. Thanks so much for listening to my first episode or my first swell post. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad that you're finding some commonalities in our upbringing. Growing up in the Nineties was definitely a time, so I'm excited to share more anecdotes more silly things that we did back then. But thank you so much for following and listening

That's hilarious. I heard of system of down and a lot of my friends and classmates were into them. I was more of a R and B type of chick when it came to burnt CDs. But yes, they all looked like that sharpie in your handwriting. Sometimes you would do a little doodle of a happy face or a flower or something, but by trade I'm actually a graphic designer. And I think back then, that's when it all started
