Senfield Says Comedians Have To Worry Too Much About What They Say Today—Your Thoughts?

article image placeholderUploaded by @homosanity
Homo sanity here from the Homo Sanity show. I saw title to an article recently that they quoted Seinfeld as saying that with the political climate that we have, that it's frustrating for comedians now because they have to watch what they're going to say more than being able to focus on their comedy

I feel like there are comedians that are going to feel like that, but it's because they're past their prime. Like, their time is up. You know, they can come back if they want to, sure. But at the end of the day, like, you gotta get with the times. And I feel like all the best artists do that, right? You got one or two things

Humor is a touchy thing. It always has been. And where there are comedians that repulse me, I don't beget anyone else for enjoying Adam Sandler, as long as I don't have to pretend to enjoy the inane antics. While I prefer comedians that require some mental input to be amused by brain stimulating rhetoric, I know that isn't for everyone. This is MJ and I understand that this issue isn't something that is easily remedied because someone, somewhere will see things differently than the original intent

I agree with Seinfeld 100% on that. I think comedians have to be very concerned about offending people. And I think the reason why we as society has gotten to this point where if they're offended, they just overreact to everything. I have this concept that I call social felonies and social misdemeanors. Like in our judicial system, if we do something wrong, it could be a violation. Maybe we get a ticket. It could be a misdemeanor. It could be a felony. Felony

I was thinking of how to not shame this kid and get them into thinking in the right frame of mind and make that an example for all the students. But. So I get that. I get that. I agree with what you're saying, and I appreciate your share. Thank you

That was an excellent way of putting it. So, yeah, like I said on comedians and cars having coffee, they talk about all this stuff all the time. They've already talked about these kind of issues with various comedians. So it really wasn't a surprise that he said that they kind of already talked about it. And it's an interesting conversation to have

Playing "Telephone" can be extremely educational in teaching that what we hear gets muddled before it’s repeated—without trying.

Even talking about it, it goes up through the brain and is refractured to mean something a little bit different. Remember that story I talked about, the giving tree just like that. In fact, that's a really good example, and I know you remember that. So when a child hears something that so and so said and goes home and tells mom and dad, there's. There is a guarantee. Unintentionally. It's not 100% correct. It's not
