How i discovered what i actually like doing as a sober person

article image placeholderUploaded by @hollytalksalcoh
It came to a point where I would just become completely numb every time I drink and I would kind of fade into the background of the situation I was in with whoever I was talking to, or if I was at a party or if I was with friends having drinks. Eventually it just came to a point where I would fade into the background and it was almost like I wasn't present anymore. Like I was just kind of gone. But I was still there

And I feel like every day a new layer of myself is unfolding and I'm starting to learn myself on a different level that I didn't know before. But I just wanted to say also that I can gladly tell you that they have become my positive coping mechanisms through staying sober. And I just wanted to know, what is your coping mechanism?

I prefer how I am in a different setting and not when I'm drinking. I could think of so many other activities and that make me feel better and that make me more excited and that feel more like me that I took some comfort in thinking about, like, okay, if I'm not going to go out in the weekend, out drinking. There's so many other things that I love

And if you find that you function better around settings that have nothing to do with alcohol, then maybe start trying to eliminate alcohol in your routine. Depending on how often you go out with friends or what you do with your friends in your spare time. I'm not sure. But maybe at first, try to do more of what the other things that you like and see if it benefits you in a way where you want to steer clear more so of alcohol than you are right now
