I don't remember the author's name because his name was really hard to pronounce, but it was a blue and white cover and it showed, like, a bright blue eyeball on the COVID And at the time, I was reading a lot of ebooks on my Nook tablet. I have a different tablet now, but it was an amazing story. I believe it was published independently, and I remember giving it five stars
So, yeah, that was totally on my mind as I heard you talk about this book. But then I was also very intrigued by the premise of this other Sci-Fi book that you're talking about, and I did do much more detailed Google search to see if I could find the book. I came across another sci-fi book called Sapien by To Burnett. But then I read the blurb and I realized that wasn't the book that you are referring to. The premise is completely different
I believe I found it. I tried an alternate spelling and put a t on the end. Sapien'. And the description does talk about a mouse named Einstein and animal intelligence and so on. It looks like this might be the book. I've included the author's name and a link above

And I think someone had just found it. It's actually called Sapien' by Jerry. The author's first name is Jerry.
