I never really witnessed an act of bravery. My father used to beat my mother up, and I think it was brave when she would, you know, try to protect herself from him, but I didn't see a whole lot of that either. She usually succumbed to his brutality. I think it was brave of her to try to be married to someone who was beating her up because she had children and she was concerned that he still support the family
