Hey, Silkasters, I just have a really simple question for you. I'm 25. I just noticed some grays. I'm sure I have some in the back, but I noticed them in the front. Right in the front. Of course. I do dye my hair, so it's not a big deal. I'm going to dye them anyways. But just wanted to know when you started getting gray, what age? And then with that, what's your routine?

Hey, Heidi. I started getting gray hair in my 30s. Well, I started noticing it in my 30s, but my daughter, she's had gray hair since. She's had a couple of gray hair since she was like seven or eight years old. So I guess it depends on the person. But in regards to mine, I don't dye mine. I used to try to dye over it, and the gray was like, are you kidding me?
I have dark brown hair and so slowly they were like changing colors for a while, but now they're full on gray in the front. My husband is only 31 and he's pretty, pretty gray and he's been gray since I met him about six years ago. So I do think it depends on the person. I'm just putting this out there as a poll and seeing when people got gray hair because I think it is so interesting

And so therefore, I started out after being initially freaked out with just having a positive acceptance of it. And then over the years, I've just only heard continuous positive messages about gray hairs and how beautiful and distinguished and just the beauty in the gray and the intricacies and the different depths of gray in a strand. And so I just started to see it as a moment of beauty
And one of my main things in my life as I get a little bit older is I just hope that I can live a long life. I want to get older. I want to enjoy every part of it, and I just want to be blessed enough to live so long. So I'm glad you said that, because I don't think a lot of people realize that, too. And since I posted this, I did look through my hair, and there are more grays

She used to color her hair dark brown. Every six weeks, she would go and get it colored. Now, my pastor is almost 70. She would get her hair colored every six weeks religiously. And then she got to a point where she was like, look, this is just too expensive. This is getting too hard to maintain. And so now she's completely silver and gray, but she keeps her hair cut in a really short pixie cut. And so it looks really cute
So then from that point on, I guess I've just always been kind of just doing all kinds of different things with my hair because I could. So now I am a violet red, and I will probably stick with this color until I decide to chop all of my hair off again. So we'll see what happens. But I love this color, and I've been this color for probably about two or three years now. When. Who knows? We'll see what happens
I had clients that would come every six weeks, and then if they got more gray, we had to adjust their formula so they couldn't be as light as they wanted to. Sometimes times or sometimes it would just blend their grays in. I'm glad that you let your grays shine through and your highlights. That sounds really awesome. I had a couple of clients that really liked doing that, too. And of course, it was easier for me because I didn't have to do their roots
Thanks for jumping on here. That is such an interesting first gray hair experience. That sounds so funny. Honestly, that's something I should do. I should go and pluck my first gray hair and keep it on my vanity because I have a background in beauty, so it'd just be funny if I kept onto it forever. I love that you get to change your hair up. It sounds so fun. And the violet red just sounds amazing
