What is a scary movie that ACTUALLY scared you?

article image placeholderUploaded by @heidi
And then my aunt, she saw Halloween when they were coming out, so she thinks that Halloween is one of the scariest movies. And then back to my sister, the Five Freddy movie is coming out. And she grew up playing those games, and she thinks that that movie is going to be really scary. And I just think that it's a bunch of dolls. So this is so weird. And I honestly never thought about what qualifies as scary to different people

As simple as that. So that one was rough. Not like it's a horror flick, but it was scary to us. But Mike was phantasm fun tags on. Oh, my gosh. Scared me to death

I love thrillers, so I'm always suspecting that twist or change in the plot. I also haven't seen any of the Equalizer movies, but they're on my list. I probably will watch them at some point. I'm also excited to hear what everyone else is going to say and thank you for joining on here because now I have another friend overseas

@Scribe7 I’m going to watch Phatasm now!

I'm going to watch this movie now. I have to watch Phantasm the next movie night because if you didn't watch another scary movie after that, it sounds pretty scary. I looked it up really quick and I can see what you're talking about. It's like a ball that has little knives and stuff sticking out that looks creepy

Scary movies....Oooooo!

It doesn't scare me because I know it's just a movie, and it just makes me kind of sick to my stomach. But there's one movie that, when it came out, my sister knew I had a problem with this particular fear, and she and her husband took me and my family to see the show. And when it first started, I tried to get up and leave, but they wouldn't let me. And it scared me so much because it could happen

Hereditary, Night of the Living Dead, but Taxi Driver has a case for real world horror

I think it's that dread, that feeling of something is wrong that just sneaks under your skin. That, to me, ultimately lets a person know that that director really understands what fear is. Night of the Living Dead believe it or not, one of the original zombie films is on the top of my list. And not for just the reasons of the zombies, but after looking at it over and over again

It came around 20 00 20 01 20 02 early 2000 and that was one freaking movie that haunted me for years. I don't think I still have the heart to watch it again. That scream is so blood curdling that I don't know, I do not even want to think about it. It was scary. So if it is available on Netflix maybe or maybe some OTT platform where you can watch it with subtitles then please do search for it

I mean, even to this day, when I see his face in my head like I'm doing right now, it's frightening to me. And it's not so much that the movie, I guess, was all that scary. It's just the way they had him looking and I don't know, it pierced into me. Really, seriously, literally got into my soul. And I was like, I don't like this

My answer would be Paranormal Activity and Talk to Me #movies

The type of thing where you could picture something like this happening to you and you hope to God it never does. So examples of that would be for example, there was this one movie called Buried. It starred ryan Reynolds. And that's the thing. Technically, this movie wasn't a horror film, it was a thriller. But it still just freaked me out just being in that situation

The first two that we got to start off with, the first one being my favorite horror film of all time, but both directed by who I would consider to be the godfather of horror, and that is John Carpenter The Thing and John Carpenter Halloween. Both incredible films that have the capacity to, all these years later, shake me to my core, but manage to do so in completely different ways

The original Nightmare on Elm Street. And the second one was okay too, but not as good. But I like them all a lot better because there was a lot of implicit things, so it made you think. And your mind can go to all sorts of lovely, dark places. So I really, really like this. Thank you. It was definitely great food for thought. And yeah, there's not a lot of really good horror movies out there. Thanks. Bye

Not to give away too many spoilers, but that whole notion of being attacked or being pursued by somebody you can't tell who they are is very scary. For me at a young age also, I was scared of the dark. So that added into the creepiness of some films. I remember when I saw the first Nightmare on Elm Street again, I think because of more of the imagery and more of kind of the shock factor of some of the scenes

Hi. Thank you for putting this out there. I am terrified of the conjuring movies, the conjuring universe. I wasn't at first, and the longer I watch it and I've watched it numerous times, it seems the more scared I get. And I don't know why that is, because usually it's the opposite reaction. I can watch it and get less scared, but I think I let some time pass before I watched it and then watched it again

@SOMEWHERE2 I hate the ocean 🌊

How? However, I'm not afraid of Jaws, but I am afraid of the ocean. So maybe watching Jaws again since I'm a little bit older will freak me out this time. Thank you so much for your response

Definitely do think it kind of fits in this horror uncomfortable genre that you're talking about. Not like traditional horror, but definitely can be fearful at times. I recently watched The Witch, maybe a couple of months ago. I thought it was amazing. One of the best movies I've seen in a while
