Hello, everyone. This is Glenn. And welcome to another episode of Motion Pictures and Other Moods. The movie I'm talking about right now is from 1979. It's a cult classic. It's the warriors. Now, The Warriors is one of my favorite films. Stars. Michael Beck dorothy Wright james Remar. The story of The Warriors is about a gang from Coney Island who make their way to the Bronx for a citywide meeting of all the gangs

Talking about the cult classic from the 1970s.

And why wouldn't they? That's just a classic line that I think a lot of people don't know where it's from, but they just hear it when people say it. Now, interestingly, after the Belmont Stakes one year in 2014, we planned on taking the train from Belmont Park to Madison Square Garden. However, the train was so backed up, they had so many delays, it was backed up for nearly the whole line from the train station up to Belmont Park

It. Hey, thanks for listening. And thank you for bringing up that classic line warriors come out to play with somehow I forgot to mention. But it's such an iconic line that's been repeated in so many different films and TV shows and a lot of hip hop songs, and it's been a big part of our culture. You're right. A lot of people may not even be aware of the origins of that line

You, this is such a fantastic film. I remember seeing the movie honestly for the first time in the early 90s when I was a kid. My uncle had the VHS for it. And I remember so much about it because the way the movie the box art for the movie I always thought was fascinating because it was drawn. It was hand drawn and painted. And you could just see, like, the sea of characters where you have The Warriors at the front and you have the baseball furies

Hey, thanks for listening. And you're correct, the director's cut does add a different layer and dynamic to the story and does put the journey back to Coney Island in a different context from the theatrical cut. And there were concerns about violence. And I know some theaters refused to show the movie, I believe, because they were concerned about there being violence. And there were some few disturbances in some places, but it wasn't the widespread anarchy as expected. And his cultural influence continues
