Katie Genovese short life ended on March 13, 1964, but her memory continues to live in the hearts and minds of many New Yorkers. I'm Glenn Mann, and thank you for listening to down the street

And we've seen this in other examples in public safety incidents where perhaps someone is being attacked, and maybe people are just kind of watching, but then one person decides to try to interfere, and then other people begin to either try to physically get involved or yelling the screen. So the bystander effect is a really important psychological study that was prompted by this heinous crime and the erroneous reports of people ignoring kiddie Genovese. So I just wanted to add that to this story

Hey Glenn, thanks for sharing. It's a horrible story, but really interesting. Also, I never heard about this and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series even though I get kind of squeamish or I don't really enjoy true crime. But there's some interesting things to consider when me listen to these stories. Also very interesting, the 911 detail. That's exactly what I was thinking when you were telling the story. But yeah, really interesting stuff. Thank you for sharing

@rocio

I just kind of just want to just really share the facts straightforward and try to just really share the story and sort of some details, but also to sort of be impact and what it means in a hopefully broader context. It was just very sort of bite size storytelling here. I just wanted to share these stories, stories that are memorable, stories that resonate with me, that I remember growing up reading about, or things happened before I was born, things that happened growing up
