Now, if you had asked that of a Jewish person in Jesus day, he would have said his fellow Israelites. But Jesus gave to them an example of a man outside their race, a Samaritan. Now, Jews despised Samaritans, they hated Samaritans, and yet Jesus said to his fellow people, and this is your neighbor. And so there it is. The same is true for us today
