Old and Grumpy - The Intolerance of Age

article image placeholderUploaded by @GeorgieDee
And when it first happened, I was so grumpy, I thought, man, that's very inconsiderate of them, putting it right on their front porch where everybody can smell it, and it's right next door to my door. And then I thought, you know what, Georgie? You had a barbecue on your front porch about ten years ago in this exact house, and you were cooking red meat

My grandmother died at 96, and she may have been intolerant in some ways, but she was more flexible and sharp in other ways that were really impressive to me. So may I not embrace the intolerance that she had for people, but embrace the flexibility and adaptability in more places and spaces in my life than yeah, just more is what I want, what I'm endeavoring for

@SeekingPlumb Byron Katie - Is it True

Byron, katie says. Is it true? Do you know it's true? Like you were talking about I don't know what the quote was that you said about other people. Same theory. We don't actually know what's going on for other people. We're just making up narratives in our head for how it appears to us. Right. And then we make meaning from it or react to it or have an emotional reaction to it. And I really like that phrase of hers

Welcome to Swell!

@SeekingPlumb

@GeorgieDee (I also use that quote. So helpful.)

I'm so glad you highlighted the not suffering fools sort of speak. Well, hello. Because that sort of intolerance, quote unquote intolerance I'm proud of. Right? Because that meant that boundaries, injuries became a part of my life. My self worth came into the picture, or an understanding, I should say, of self worth and so much more what's mine and what's not mine to carry emotionally, mentally, and how I deserve to be treated or not, etc

Please talk to your neighbours

And you can also eat meat once in a while if you're feeling so obsessed about eating it. I do not suggest cutting red meat or whatever meat from your diet entirely. It obviously seems that your body wants it. So that is my simple suggestion. Just talk to them. And you can also go on a vacation. Vacation or some place to visit your friends and family far away, so that your mind is not willing upon such issues. Okay? All the best

Look, I have a fast mind and it moves a lot. But I also relax and I do meditation and yoga and things like that. I don't eat red meat myself, but I'm fine with other people eating it. And my rule is I don't buy it, I don't cook it. And if I go to a restaurant, I don't order it. But if I go to somebody's house and they cook me red meat, I'm happy to eat it

Well, these are very good questions. I'm thinking about this. Am I less tolerant than I used to be? I'm not sure I'm less tolerant, although am grumpy in the sense of I have a difficult time accepting how society is changing around the way people spend their time and how that manifests itself. In my two adult children who are in their early twenty s. The computer games, the socializing in front of a screen for hours and hours and hours bothers me so much
