Choosing A Club Team

article image placeholderUploaded by @GemsInTheGym
One of the topics that consistently comes up, that I consistently hear as I run gyms in the gym, is choosing a club team. Choosing an AAU team for your son or daughter to play for. There's a couple of things and variables to consider. One, you have to assess the level of the child. What are their strengths, what are their weaknesses, what level are they at now? Is it an introductory level, development level, competitive level? Is it an elite level?

Assessment!

The first is I'll ask, when their kids, if they have more than one, when did they start walking? And you'll get answers anywhere from three months to a year and a half on when kids start walking. And you're like, yes. See, they develop at different ages. They develop at different times, and they go through their own process of developing how to walk. That doesn't mean one is going to be any better than walking than the other

@Phil

This is excellent. Absolutely an excellent assessment and breakdown. They develop at different times and stages and everybody's journey is their own journey. One is not necessarily better than the other because they did it earlier. Good point
