What happens when we double down on being perceived as smart so we don't look dumb, but in fact, it can make you look really dumb. When was the last time you played dumb on purpose? I know it's a natural instinct to play dumb at times because some people may be intimidated by you if you're always acting smart. Take me, for instance
Well, you may not sound smart, but you are being smart. But the ones that want to try to play it smart and they think they can kind of get away with it, it turns out bad because I've done it plenty of times, and it's like, damn, man, I might as well just surrender.
