Can you sort of believe in God?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
A person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena. A person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God. And this person Isaac said well, if you're agnostic, then when was last time you did something for God? Which is kind of crazy because it's like, well, wait a minute here, what are you talking about?

As we examine the meaning of an Agnostic vs Atheists, we explore the idea of absolute and naunced belief. https://s.swell.life/STjuXa9ppp6MI1C

I do not put label on what I believe in because that would be limiting yourself. And for Christians, I don't know, Buddhists, all those kinds of religions, different titles, I feel like they're putting themselves in a box. And you're just limiting yourself to one belief when you can believe in whatever the heck you want, because that's what you're here for, to create your own reality

While this article can account to that, an agnostic is not an atheist. So there's the question of, well, if you don't believe or disbelieve, which is it? It's that you don't know. I personally would argue that if you do practice worship, especially pertaining to God, like a Judeo Christian type of God, then you are in fact a Christian. But maybe one that is a bit radical in their beliefs

You. Yes, thank you. Thank you for that. Growing up in my family, I was born and baptized Catholic, and that's something they assigned to me. I did not have any say because my grandma and probably great grandparents were also Catholic. They will follow that faith. I don't know. We would go to church every Sunday and one day I'm there, maybe five years old, five, six years old, I don't know

I don't believe there is a God, but I don't know. And I lean more towards not just doubt, but no desire to remove doubt. Do you know what I mean? So there's that. But your final questions there about faith and whether it's binary or whether it's fluid, I think it depends on who you ask. But I think I would say fluid. It's probably more fluid, right?

You. And so, yeah, with the Jehovah Witnesses, we stopped celebrating a lot of things. Birthdays, Christmas, any type of holiday that did not approve, you cannot celebrate. You could not listen to music that had, you know, bad words, dance to the music that was inappropriate or whatever. But they still dance and jehovah with this is still dance, but they have to analyze the lyrics. So maybe that's where I get that from

And yeah, it should be healthy for one to question their faith in religion, but now there's so much religion that kind of prides itself on doing away with that sort of questioning and more accepting the book as written. Yeah, that can be very interesting to partake. But my dad, he was at one time a practicing Jehovah Witness, so he has some interesting ideas on Christianity and faith and things of that nature. I don't know now what his denomination is

Hey, Christina, thanks for responding to the Swell cast as I know religion can be a very touchy subject and I like to say that I provide a safe space to speak about one's religious views in spite of my religious views or lack of thereof. But yeah, the person who wrote this article thingy had some interesting viewpoints on what an agnostic was because I don't think they understand it's not simply an indifference

I believe that you can believe in God, believe that there is a God, but not follow his commands and not accept Him into your heart and live for Him. There's a lot of people around the world that do that. A lot of them call themselves Christians. And I know people are going to be like, I can't believe she said that, but I'm being for real. A lot of people believe in that there is a God

Believers would refuse to even entertain the game or the story or the analogy or whatever. And it always boggled my mind because if you believe something so strongly then wouldn't you want to be able to articulate that even better? Wouldn't you like to understand your belief even better? So delving into this wouldn't it be a good thing?

So I found very interesting about the story about the Buddha and how he grew up as a prince, very wealthy, and his dad shielded him from any type of pain or suffering or seeing old people or injures sickness or anything like that. And when he escaped from the kingdom or whatever his dad created to shield him from the world, he started his journey to awakening and ultimately reaching nirvana, I guess I just found pretty interesting. So what he did was to go within
