Elon To Eliminate "Blocking" from X.

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
So what are your thoughts on this latest news bit from Elon Musk? And do you feel blocking should be eliminated from all walks of social media and we should have different ways of protecting ourselves against stuff we don't want to hear or see?

Do you use The Block Button frequently on X? https://tinyurl.com/nhyrzv2m

@FryedOreo ⚠️ Rant incoming! ⚠️ 🤣 Laughable! #LetMeTellYouHowIREALLYFeel

And now he's saying he doesn't want that. Like, sure, Muting is great in some circumstances, which means you don't have to hear from them, but it doesn't mean they won't see what you put out there. And yes, you can go private. But what's irritating to me about going private is that that means you lose all of the benefits of what it is to be on social media

This seems like it would be such a problem because I don't know how many people got blocked or muted or know I have used a muted feature. A lot more blocking for me, felt personal. But every app has blocking, right? And if anything, Twitter was touted for its ability to allow flexibility in how you can disassociate from seeing other people if you didn't want to, without needing to have to press the block button

You're like, someone starts to date someone and they're like, oh, have you scoped out their Facebook or their Instagram or whatever, right, to learn more about them? And Twitter's in there too. I mean, how many times have people gone through the history of someone's account to find out anything and everything about that person?

So first there's the cage match between him and Zuckerberg that drew a lot of comments and now this clicks responses, likes those are all ways for him to generate ad revenue. And by throwing something out there like this, just as his statement I'm stepping down, the CEO generated millions of comments, this will do the same and he doesn't realize the dangerousness. Honestly, as a male, I don't get that many stalkers

As you had pointed out, despite what many may think, twitter is losing a lot of value in terms of its know. All the rage is TikTok. All the rage is TikTok. Now, everybody wants those TikTok numbers. They are trying to model their business around TikTok like posts, TikTok like effects, but it just can't quite do it to such an extent. I believe YouTube at one point was trying to be competitive with TikTok and they had to announce that they're going to cut shorts

So Madeline Sclar is, if you ever done the hashtag or even seen the hashtag, twitter smarter. She's right here. Native Houstonian, right here. And we met from different musical things in my past, and we've been friends pretty much on Twitter ever since. So I've learned a lot from just free information she put out there. She's been a digital marketer since 1996, before the big bang of all the Internet stuff and social media and all that stuff that came out

But with TikTok, the difference is that it has a very powerful algorithm that recognizes what you want or what you see and it shows you the content that you are most likely to see or to spend your time on. But with Twitter it has a bit of both. It has some pages that you like, it is more likely for it to show them to you, but it is not a requirement

And the way how I curate work, it just doesn't translate well on Twitter. It's like my least place where I can get things going and it's the least organic feeling for me personally. It's not the same commenting on a tweet as it is on an Instagram post or a Facebook post. I find those places to just serve my style better, whereas it seems like everybody there so passionate

The algorithm of Twitter, perhaps one of the best algorithms out there, although I am starting to hate now what they are doing. I'm getting these forced notifications from things I don't follow or have anything to do with it's. Like, the app recognizes that I don't use it that often, so they figure, hey, let's give him a dopamine rush and give him a notification, and therefore he'll think that somebody actually cares about him

And nowadays with all the power and all his influence, maybe he's just laughing at us and laughing at the system and how it works. Because if you have seen some parts of the financial system, even the world financial system, it's based on credit and credit doesn't exist. Credit is subjective and is susceptible to very violent falls from one day to another. So I think he's just playing with the complete idea of how it works because he knows that it works that way
